Im watching the show on WE and these people have to come from SOMEWHERE. I have never attended nor did I have a Platinum Wedding. I want to know how it feels to get everything you want!/could dream of.. This episode features topiaries made in the image of their pets!!!

No, but I believe I am attending one that could qualify at the end of June. Maybe not quite as extravagant as the ones on TV, but it may come close. The bride''s parents just bought the groom (my husband''s friend) a $25,000 watch - and were willing to spend several thousand more. From what I''ve heard, basically anything the bride wants she gets. They''re paying several different singers over $10,000 (*each*) to show up and sing a couple songs, and that''s in addition to the 10-15 piece band (unless they''ve hired even more people since then). The wedding is at a really nice fancy hotel and I''m kind of excited to see how it turns out! My husband might be a groomsman (the groom still hasn''t decided if he''s having any!) but either way it should be a *really* nice wedding...

NO, but my old co-worker was in one. I think her friend spent $750k-$1m, the photos were off the hook.

no - but I think I would love to attend - imagine how good the food would probably be! :)

Nope, I''ve never been to one.

Everytime we watch that show, I comment to my husband that we need to a) get rich friends or b) crash a platinum wedding because the food like to die for!!

I was invited to an NBA player''s wedding by someone and from what I heard after the fact it qualified as a platinum wedding, but I didn''t get to go.

Ditto all of this. I''d love to attend one!

I honestly don''t know if I''d want to have a platinum wedding though. I just didn''t like wedding planning at all and I think having to spend that much money, even with a wedding planner to help, would be overwhelming. Not that I couldn''t spend $50-75k

but I wouldn''t know what to do with $100k+

I''m not planning on having one but a friend of mine attended one that was featured on the show. It was an Indian couple from Houston. I think it was like a million dollars or something. The groom rode in on an elephant.

I like the show-it''s fun. Never been to one and soooo did not have one! If I had the money, I doubt I''d do it anyway, but it''s fun to dream. The only way it would happen is to have it someplace cool and fly in friends and family, put them up in a nice hotel-that''s how I would end up spending the money. And flowers. Flowers everywhere.

What happened to that poster who came on here saying her IL''s were giving them a budget of $100k for their wedding (or something like that)?

Never been to one and definitely won''t be having one!

The one couple that I know ("know" being fairly relative - they''re my BF''s cousins) that could have afforded one didn''t go over the top - very elegant, very nice, amazing food and venue, but it wasn''t anything that made you think "Holy cow, they must have spent a fortune." The bride''s mother made the wedding dress and the BM dresses (and they looked amazing - the MOB had serious skills with a sewing machine). The food really was amazing, the bar was amazing, and they had pizza towards they end so we could power through the last hour of dancing/try to soak up some of the alcohol.

Missbennett? I think she disappeared after people started asking about inconsistencies in what she was posting...

Yeah, I thought so .. would''ve been nice if it was real! Our very own PS platinum wedding ..

Never heard of the show. . .what channel is it on?

I''m not sure if I''d want to go to such an event unless I was a bridesmaid and the bride paid for the dress and gifted me a $10K diamond pendant. lol Actually, going to such a wedding may make me feel kind of depressed until after 3 or 4 glasses of champagne. I might actually need the whole bottle!

Is it a show or something that occurs, now, in real life? And if it is the latter, what is it?

Sizzle, what constitutes a platinum wedding? A certain dollar amount spent on the whole event? A certain cost per guest? Pyrotechnics?

It sounds like it''s one of those "real life" shows. I''m not a fan of those shows. The only one I watch is Horders. lol Usually we just watch Netflix movies. I hate TV commericials.

It''s the name of a show about weddings with massive (or unlimited) budgets, and it airs on WE on Sunday nights.

I think they qualify it as over $100K. Ugh, pocket change.

I remember her - that was very interesting/fun reading. I was hoping she''d stick around a bit longer :P

Its considered a "platinum wedding" if its 6 figures and up. Technically they accept $100k, but many are $500,000-$2,500,000. I will say this....there are definitely weddings out there that cost that much. However (and not to burst bubbles), as a wedding planner (and someone who knows two of the brides who were on that show), things are EMBELLISHED! Like many where they show the brides wedding day jewelery. Yes it might be worth $500k, but they didnt buy it, it was loaned from the jeweler. Or the dress is $10,000 (which is still a good amount), but the show says it was custom and cost $15k etc. One of the brides I know actually bought her dress as a sample for $5k, but the show still said it was worth $12k. They arent exaggerating with flowers, you can spend $70k on flowers. But linens? Even custom linens dont cost $40k like some episodes have said.

So while they are beautiful (and expensive) weddings and the show is definitely nice to watch, dont let some of it discourage you. You can still have an over the top wedding without having to hit the million dollar mark!

I totally figured this! They seem to go off the "value" of things, not how much was actually spent.

It''s all fine with me, I just watch the show a) when I''m super bored and b) for the food

Yeah, I''ve seen them included the cost of everything. For example...including the cost of all the hotel rooms for all the guests. And...spa treatments for all the wedding party. That is great if the familes paid for that but I''ve highly doubted it a couple times. If you include the cost of all the hotel rooms, all the activites, and other events people participated in as part of our wedding then yeah...we had a platinum wedding. But if we count what came out of our pocket we were a few thousand dollars off :-).
