Does anyone have any recommendations for purchasing a diamond in Dallas, TX?
My boyfriend does not want to deal with anyone out of town, or online. sigh.
That means I won''t be getting a Leon Mege setting.
Any advice would be fabulous as we are just starting our search.
Thanks!

How far is Houston from Dallas? Personally, I''d make the drive out to Whiteflash in Houston. I''m not sure if you need to make an appointment or if you can stop in.

It''s about a four hour drive. I''ll suggest that though. Thanks!
It seems like Whiteflash is the vendor of choice here on Pricescope.
I had no idea they were located in Houston.

We went through cook diamonds at the world trade center in Dallas, but I have had a ton of luck with the folks at Troy Vison Jewelers in Fort Worth. They are the ones that made my Citrine ring and I believe they are AGS...

... the website is http://www.troyvinsonjewelers.com/

As MC suggested, WF is located in Houston. Even though it''s a long drive maybe the two of you could turn it into a weekend get away trip. You can basically pick out everything online and then he can have the peace of mind of purchasing in person and seeing the ring. Really it''s the best of both worlds. I would be thrilled if WF or any of the other great ps vendors were located even 4 hours away from me.

Okay, I''ve been doing some research... and I''ve come up with these sources in Dallas....
Any comments please?

Herbert Goldberg Company http://www.herbertgoldberg.com/
Shapiro Diamonds http://www.shapirodiamonds.com/
Lyles Degrazier http://www.lylesjewelry.com/store/home.asp

They''re all located in office buildings, they do not have a retail store front, and they are by appointment only... That''s a good sign, right?
They all claim to be wholesalers... I''m not sure how reliable that is though.

Wholesalers by definition don''t sell to the public, and if they do you have to wonder why. Shapiro is in the world trade center also, I cruised by there on my way to the bathroom...the website is pretty fancy in comparison.

Thanks! I''ll be sure to check them out... we''re trying to visit as many places as possible so we can get comfortable with the process.

It seems like a lot of them are located in the world trade center huh.
I guess we can make a day of it sometime.
Also, his parents live in Houston, so that''s probably very doable.

I do have a question though, so far we''ve only visited one place, but they said that they don''t buy back their diamonds.
They will only trade it for an equal or more expensive diamond.
Isn''t that a bit of a flag? I was kind of hoping we''d be able to compare a few diamonds from each source side by side, but if they won''t take the diamonds back...
That''s a little scary to me.
Am I being paranoid?

I would just get a puddle jumper out of love field to houston. No worries then. Buy back, upgrade, it''s all covered. I don''t know about the other places that you listed or I would try to be more help.

I doubt seriously that you''d find the same quality of diamond at the price WF offers. I would make an appointment at WF (you can''t just stop in) and take all the worries out of the equation.

Thanks so much for all the advice. I think we''re going to go ahead and visit all the places here in town.
Then afterwards, we''ll definitely make a trip down to Houston. That way we''ll make the most of our appointment.
And by that time, I''ll know EXACTLY what I want. Right now, I''m only 90% sure.

I am headed to Whiteflash tomorrow from Ft. Worth to review diamonds. I am sure it will definately be worth the wait.

FYI if a business is in the World Trade Center, you need retailer buyer''s credentials to get in. I know because I have a wholesale business (gift, not jewelry). You may be able to get some kind of pass if you call and schedule an appointment. Didn''t want you to just "show up" and get turned away.

Ooooh thanks JPK! That would have been slightly embarassing.

Also, please let me know how your visit goes. I have a tendency to be nosy so I''d love to hear all the details.
Or maybe I''m just being selfish... so I''ll know what to expect.

Drive safely!

Hi Lovelee

I don''t know you have found a diamond yet or not but I was just looking at this website and thought maybe we could help you and help answer your questions. I work at Lyles Degrazier and my fiance is the vice president of the company. We are located in the World Trade Center and we do sell to the public. We usually work by appointments. If we could help you in any way please feel free to call us.
