Hi guys... i thought i was all clear on the perfect diamond.. then i kept digging and digging , looking at posts and pics.. and now im back to stage 1... lol.......
as you know im after a diamond 1.2 -1.4 range , colourless range and vs1 above.... i was intially looking at this one http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4417 but now im questioning it and being picky... light performance HCA score 1.3 ex/ex/vg/vg and the crown/pavillion angle 34/41

1.32 EVS1 $15277

then whiteflash came along and just posted this ACA diamond http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-1050549.htm# now im really confused HCA score 1.1 ex/ex/ex/vg
crown/ pavillion angle 34.9/40.7

1.38 FVS1 $16430

which one is better.. in terms of perfection. standing out and in breauty ???? hoping the colour between the 2 is un-noticable .. which one would look stunning .. both are beautiful stones.. but whats better for value....

i know im being a pain but help!!!

They are both gorgeous stones, you could pick either and be delighted I am sure. Don''t worry about HCA scores at this stage, it isn''t used for selecting stones and it''s value is limited once you have all the other info as you do. I don''t see a price for the GOG diamond to compare, but I think you can be confident both are excellent, and it depends on price and your preference as to the colour also.

It would depend on the price for me also as to which I would pick, I don''t see the price for the GOG diamond?

Both are gorgeous stones!

The one from GOG is a higher color, a tiny bit smaller, and a little less expensive.

The one from WF is a lower color, a tiny bit larger, and a little more expensive. (Incidentally, this one would be 5% off that price with the wire and Pricescope discount)

Your choice wiill be made on what you value the most...color, size, or price.

You can''t go wrong with either one.

colour difference would be unnoticable...
not to sure on the H&A aspect... im guessing both are just bought the same .. or am i wrong here?

Both are H&A stones, so you don''t need to worry. If you mean the HCA score, they are both under 2 which is what you want. A lower score after that doesn''t mean "better".
 
how bout brilliance, fire and sparkle.. again both equally better ?

Thanks! Personally, I would go for the cheaper one, but you can't go wrong with either. As Neat says, the HCA score isn't really the thing here, these are both top cut stones and although their personalities may differ a tad possibly, you will get excellent performance in all categories from either. I think you need to pick the one you like best according to price and colour grade rather than performance, you will have superb quality for that whichever you choose.

Both are within the top 3% or better of all diamonds. I have stones from both vendors and all are oustanding stones.

GOG does provide so much detail on there stones but out of all the tests.. which ones the best.. i know idealscopes are definately to be seen but the sarin data megascope data and GIA cert... when i put the various vales in HCA - the diamond can change from 1.3 -GIA values to 2.9 using the OGI megascope values !!!! which ones right ...

GIA rounds the numbers, so a Sarin gives more detailed measurements and some variance is normal. Now, again don't be concerned with the HCA at this stage and with the info you have, as the other info such as Idealscope etc trumps the usefulness of the HCA in this case. The HCA isn't used to select stones and it can't physically see the diamond, so it really isn't of value now you have all the information and images of the actual diamonds - you don't need to use it or be concerned with it now, especially regarding your final selection, that isn't the purpose of the HCA. They are both excellent stones, you have no need to worry!

i like the 1.32 --- cause ive seen the video and its beautiful but looking at the sarin scan.. it looks like not arrows would show up clearly .. not to sure...
in regards to inculsiions on the diamonds... both the same .. or one would be better

the WF -- looks cleaner in H&A - but thats a sample pic .. if im not mistaken lol

and the price difference lol

Bear in mind that you won''t see arrows all the time with your diamond, it is easy to get so interested and analytical with the images, that you can forget how the diamond will actually look in real life. You will see arrows in some lighting conditions, but most of the time you will just see lovely sparkle!

As to the inclusions, you can''t tell by the plotting diagram of the grading report, VS clarity you should have no worries!

No, no, no. These diamonds both have outstanding cuts. You are worrying over something that is a non-issue. And VS1 is excellent, neither is better than the other. You''ll be hard pressed to see the inclusions even with a 10x loupe.

Again, your choice is higher color, tiny bit smaller, lower cost, versus one color grade lower, tiny bit bigger, a few hundred higher in price.
 
I really get confused by posts like this? Once you get up to the $10K to $15K range and you''ve narrowed it down to two stones you need to remember you aren''t buying paper, you''re buying a diamond. Good griefus, spend the extra $100 and have both of them sent to you. Pick between them with your eyes. The paper has already revealed all you need to know. They''re both fine diamonds.

Now it''s down to preference, and for that you have to see what YOUR eyes tell you.

That sounds like a great plan. As for the setting, I haven''t seen any stock settings like that, I think you might have to go custom. Good Old Gold can help you with that if that is where you buy the stone as can Whiteflash.
 
wish i was buying paper at least i know what to get for my buck.. lol.... wish it was that easy being overseas in the UK it would be difficut to ship over an back again.. by the way gone for GOG.. will be written this up when completed... for your amusement lol....
