I know most people on here are partial to Good Old Gold and Whiteflash but has anyone had experiences with some of the other larger sites....blue nile, union diamond, dimend scaasi? Are they all pretty much the same?

just do a search and you can read other customer feedback. most folks just like WF and GOG because of all the pics and upfront info they provide which is necessary for them to make a decision when buying sight unseen.

And let's not forget their awesome Lifetime Upgrade policies!

It depends upon the level of service and hand holding you need.

If buying fancy stones where pictures are a must and need info like crown height, ASET, etc., my choice will be GOG, WF, JA, ERD and the like.
If I just need a round that I can plug the numbers into the HCA, then BN, Union Diamond, and the the rest will be a better option.

I also like the upgrade policies of WF and GOG.

People also like Engagement Rings Direct too for their upgrade policy. Yes, a search is very good

Search "blue nile" and things like that, and you will get tons of results. I found it very interesting and learned quite a bit, because I originally was going for BN or Mondera. Judging from your questions, you haven''t checked out the "Knowledge" tab on top of the PS pages either. Please do. It''s really educational.
If you are interested in what I found, let me know.

I''ve purchased from BN and was very happy with my purchase. However, I think BN is better for smaller purchases you don''t plan to upgrade rather than more expensive purchases. I purchases a small pendant stone from them .43, but it is important to remember that they don''t provide images or their stones or an upgrade policy. However, they have great inventory and a good return policy.

I would like to know your findings about BN.
can you please give me some info.
I am buying my studs and ring from BN.
Please share all your knowledge and info.

Do a Search for "BlueNile" in the search box above and you will find a ton of info...

All i could find was BN doesn''t have upgrade policy and also some online tools for indepth analysis.
Please share some information why we shouldn''t be buying from bluenile.
Is there anything wrong with their diamonds?
does their diamonds not appraised well if taken to independent appraiser?
does their diamond not meet what''s on the certificate?

sorry, i am new and don''t know much techincal words.

My biggest issues with BN are the lack of an upgrade policy and the fact that they drop-ship their diamonds.

I wouldn''t say DON''T buy from BN. What I did was I took about 5 of their "Ideal Cut" diamonds, and put their information in the HCA. They all came to be about 2.5, and graded only "Very Good" or even "Fair". I took the GOG diamonds, and they came out "excellent". Now, I probably wouldn''t be able to tell the difference between a HCA 2.5 and 1.2. But it''s something to consider.

Bottom line. BN''s "Ideal Cut" is not as ideal as the HCA would suggest.
To get the HCA, go to the "Tools" tab and click on "Cut Adviser"

what''s drop-ship ?

please explain.
When you go onto BN''s website (or pretty much any vendor, for that matter), you will see a HUGE list of diamonds that appear to be available there. The reality is that only a few (if any) of those diamonds are actually owned by the vendor. The rest are all owned by the suppliers. When you order a diamond that isn''t already in-house at the vendor, one of two things can happen.

1) The vendor will have the supplier ship the diamond directly to you without ever have looked at it and assessed it themselves. BN and a lot of the other BIG online vendors do this.

or

2) The vendor calls in the diamond from the supplier on your behalf. They will look at it and give you their opinions on the diamond BEFORE you get it. Most of the Pricescope vendors do this.

When I''m looking to part with hard-earned $$$, I want every bit of information I can get about a diamond. I vastly prefer to either buy an in-house diamond or use a vendor who will look at the diamond on my behalf.
