Hello PSers,

I''d like to purchase a pair of tsavorite/diamond earrings for my fiancee to go along with her tsav/diamond e-ring for Christmas.

I was thinking something along the lines of a diamond stud, and a teardrop tsavorite that hangs from the stud.

Now, the only problem is that I''m saving for a wedding and don''t have a lot of money to spend, so I''m not looking for anything huge, and obviously I''m going to have to sacrifice some quality. I''d like the emphasis to be on the tsavorite, not so much the diamond.

Any ideas?

As always, your help is much appreciated!

Rough budget?

You could think about doing a pair of studs that aren''t diamond with a tsavorite jacket - ie a tsavorite in a setting that can be added onto a stud earring.

That way you could always buy the diamonds for a first anniversary present and then the tsavorites can hang below them as well.

You could consider white zircon, sapphire, danburite etc - obviously none of them will have quite the look of diamonds but they are pretty.

Or, keep an eye out for some antique diamonds - I''ve seen quite a few in the 1/4ct size at quite reasonable prices (if you like antique cuts).

Rough budget would be around $500.....(I know, not much).

Now to be totally honest....I''m pretty lost when it comes to what looks nice when it comes to earrings. So, despite my initial thoughts in my first post, I''m open to any and all suggestions. The only requisite is that it contain tsavorite, and for the tsavorite to be the emphasis.

I like the classic design you're proposing. You're so thoughtful. For white sapphire and tsavorite pairs, try www.paraibainternational.com

LOL, you are talking to the girl who has been pondering the tsav/diamond earring thing for some time now (to go with my e-ring), and I think the idea you have is one of the nicest.

I''m pretty sure Harriet has been pondering the same.

I''ll have a look and see if I can find anything suitable anywhere...

A pair of 0.3 TCW earrings in white gold will be about $300-350, which would leave very little money for the tsavorite.

I took a quick look at multicolour.com (hardly exaustive research!) and they have a nice pair of ~2tcw pears for $630 - ouch! There is also a pair for $198, although they seem rather dark to me and much smaller (1.3 tcw).go for a small

If you go for the small pears, you could either a very small diamond earring (0.2tcw) and stretch your budget a little to set the stones (removable jackets would be fantastic, with an upgrade of the diamonds as an anniversary gift) or use white sapphires or natural zircons.

I suggest that instead of having the tsavorites hanging immediately below the diamond (the usual desing), have them dangling from a short chain (1.5 or 2 cms). To me, this focused more atention on the dangling stone and looks more elagant as well.

Mineral Miners has some pretty tsavorite earrings near your price range. A lot of them are set in yellow gold but perhaps they can be reset in white gold for you.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it!

Those are all wonderful options. I''ve also been talking to Sheerah at WhiteFlash to see what they can do for me. She''s going to look into sourcing the tsavs and possibly sourcing a setting from somewhere (to avoid having to do a custom setting through them). I''ll see what she come back with, and any other options that people suggest for me and then figure out what to do.

I realize the budget is pretty small, so I might have to postpone the diamond/tsav combo and maybe just get a nice set of Tsav-only earrings. Or maybe a Tsavorite pendent and chain. My fiancee doesn''t have any other tsavorite jewelry, so I''d like to get her something that will go with her ring.

Hi everyone,

So I've gone ahead and bought some diamond/tsav earrings through Whiteflash to match the diamond/tsave engagement ring also bought through Whiteflash.

Thought I'd post a picture to let everyone see. I pick them up tomorrow, so I might be able to get some more pictures up later.

Details:

6x4mm Pear Shape AA Tsavorite & 1.70mm A Cut Above Diamond melee, F/G in color and VS in clarity.
