Okay so just say your hubby was looking to buy you some studs. And just say you were helping pick the stones since you know more about that stuff than him.

What if you found one ACA that was PERFECT. Would you buy it and wait for its match to come along?

Time is not an issue - they aren''t needed until October :-)

Thanks in advance!

if you feel that it is perfect for you i would go ahead and buy it. you can always return it if you change your mind, right?

what could it hurt?

HI:

I bought a stone from Wink but at the time he did not have a match--however Jon at GOG did. Had I not found something so very similar, I would have waited as it was not urgent. Something always seems to come along!!!

cheers--Sharon

Hmmm...thanks ladies. I''m tempted. With their upgrade policy I really couldn''t lose, right?

When I picked out my ACA studs, I found a pair that are almost exactly the same measurements, have the same color/clarity. It didn''t take very long to do so. I would pass on the single stone and wait to find a duo.

Or just buy it first and ask the vendor to hold it for you and look out for it''s twin until then? If it is a common size and specs, should not be that long a wait, but inventory might move fast and then this stone disappear from the stock and you are left with one stone again?

It would depend for me whether the ACA was of readily obtainable size and specs. If not then I would wait.

What falls into ''obtainable''? It is under 1 carat each - so it isn''t like it is a big whopper that only comes up once in a while. WF was putting a call into their supplier (is that Brian Gavin still?) to see if anything else was coming that was similar. They actually have one that is similar right now but with a higher clarity that pushes it out of my price range.

Why don''t you just contact BGD and ask them to source a suitable pair for you? Knowing Lesley, I''m sure she''ll be able to get you a suitable matching pair in no time. That way, you won''t have to wait.

To answer yr other Q, I don''t think Brian has anything to do with WF any more. He and Lesley are a separate business now and seeing that Brian used to approve the ACA''s at WF, you won''t have any worries with regard to the quality of the diamonds at BGD.

Yeah - I know they have a seperate business now - I had contacted them as well but they didn''t have a match yet. I just thought when WF said they would talk to their ACA supplier that maybe it was him!

Also, if WF recommended it, would you match up an ACA with a GIA excellent cut? Or would you hold out?

depends... Are you going for ACA because you want a H&A? Are they saying the GIA is a H&A too? Will they give a Hearts image for it?

If one of their experts said the pair were a good match and you were ok with it then yes.

Hmm I don''t know. I was thinking the ACA would be good because of the upgrade policy. It wouldn''t do much good if I can only upgrade one right?

Oct, if it is a diamond WF recommend then it will be upgradable.

Thanks Lorelai! I just found that out from Sheerah at WF. I''m still not sure - it is .02 smaller than the ACA in carat weight. Spread-wise it is 0.04 of a difference. I might hold out for something closer?

Thanks for your input though - I really appreciate it!!

That''s quite close already. Look at the IS/ASET image to decide.

You are most welcome sweetheart! If Sheerah thinks they are a good match then thats fine, also if the pair would be mind clean for you with one being an ACA.
