Looking for a pair of diamond studs .75-.85 ctw. I ''m looking for brilliiant earrings, the quality that one typical finds in Tiffany''s but without the pirce. I would definitely favor quality over size. I have been looking at GIA or AGSL certified pairs on Blue Nile. I''m hung up on a couple of issues in terms of wheter it is worth the price difference for earrings. Each area can (or subtract) results in

Color: F, G or even H. Is there much difference in earrings and is it worth the difference?

Clarity is it worth the difference to go with VS1-2 over SI1

Cut: I want Ideal cut, but in earrings is it worth going for the more expensive Blue Nile SIgnature Ideal cut over GIA or AGSL ideal cut stones? All Blue Nile sigangture stones are GIA or AGSL ideal, but supposedly an even finer cut.

Setting: Platinuum vs. 18k white gold. About $150 difference in price. Is it worth difference and how much of an issue is having to have the 18k gold post replated with rhodium?

Thank you

Have you looked at Whiteflash ACA's? What is your budget and maybe we can help

I think you would be fine w/ an H in color. I think it matters much less in earrings. I have seen several people get SI2 and SI1 in earrings.

I recently purchased a pair of "ideal cut" diamonds, 0.85 ctw, from Blue Nile. I chose J SI1s with GIA certs, and they are simply beautiful. I can only find the inclusions (which are white in color) with a microscope. No need for Signature Ideals. My stones have lots of sparkle and flash, and the J color is plenty white for smaller stones used for earrings.

I was looking for the Hearts on Fire look without the price. This is definitely a way to get the look and save at least 50% on the cost.

You will pay a premium for White Flash because they take lots of pictures, and have the trade up policy. Neither was important to me (not sure I would ever see a difference between ideal and super duper ideal). I plan to keep my earrings, which are plenty big enough for me, and I preferred to save the $$$.

ETA: I had my diamonds set locally at a great local jeweler, who charged me only $214 for platinum martini studs (includes backs, setting fee and tax). I prefer platinum to white gold because of the potential for allergy problems. I think white gold is best used for jewelry items that are not going to be worn on a daily basis.

I haven't tried Whiteflash yet. My budget is $1,500- 2,000.

Thanks to you both.
