Good afternoon. I have been lurking for over a month now and have found this to be an outstanding resource. I consider myself a newbie so bear with me. I am interested in round diamond stud earrings. My wife and I are celebrating 10 years and she has given me the only request of diamond stud earrings. I am interested in 2 carat total weight. My question to you all is how big of a difference can you tell in EGL USA vs. GIA? As you all know, price goes up w/ GIA. I guess I am just trying to figure out what is ''overkill'' if there is such a thing. Is it worth the extra money for earrings of this size? Also, what do you think of these price quotes? These are EGL USA data. Thanks.

For earrings, honestly, if it''s me I''d save the money. I can''t see them while I''m wearing them (whereas I can and do literally spend hours ogling my rings), and nobody else is going to be staring at my studs. A bigger/fancier design might attract more scrutiny, but studs are basic and classic and don''t draw much curiosity -- which is not to say that they can''t be extremely impressive when they start throwing fire. But nobody is going to grab them and hold them right up to the eye.

So, all else being equal, I don''t see any harm in going with EGL here, particularly as the grading is EGL USA and G color allows some leeway even if it''s off by a grade or two.
