I’ve been reading many threads this weekend in anticipation of creating my ring and realized I need help understanding the Diamond trade.
I have seen the terms: bench, source, designer, broker, concierge, etc.
Can you please help shed light on the various people involved in getting a stone from the ground to a jeweller/ designer/ middleman/ NY Diamond District broker? Who should I be reaching out to for my diamond if my aim is to avoid spending money on overhead - a dealer, broker, bench person??
Since the diamond is the larger expense, my concern is honesty in the quality of diamond, and I’m hoping that finding someone to set it would be an easier task.
