Diamond shopping at Tiffany - access to other stores' info?

I'm thinking about upgrading my Tiffany solitaire and went into a store recently to see what options they had. When I tried to ask the SA for info about similar-sized stones (I'm looking for around 1 ct.) that other stores might have, she told me she couldn't give me that information and/or that she didn't have that information. Is that true, or should I try asking another SA or at another store? I was hoping to see a list of stats for various stones around 1 ct, rather than being limited to just the few stones in that size at the actual store. Thanks!

Yes, I believe they can find out what is available in the other stores. I have heard of other people telling them what specs they wanted, such as 1-1.2 cts, G-H VS2 and then they see what they can locate. If they have several in stock but you are not expressing specific specs, then that is why they see no reason to try to access others, more than likely. If you don't know what specs you want, then it is logical to start with the ones they have in that store and see if any of those meets your approval before they would bring in rings from other stores. I believe the new ring has to cost double the amount of your original, and I assume you know that.

When I was shopping for a new diamond and engagement ring last fall I went to Tiffany's to look at rings to get an idea what size stone I wanted. They showed me what they had in my range and then made a list for me of rings from other stores that they could bring in that included the carat weight, color, clarity, and price.
