Diamond setting suggestion

I live on the nw side of chicago and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation of someone I can trust to set my diamond in a new setting. The local jewelry store wanted 100 to set the diamond AND 90 to size the ring!! They wanted me to leave it with them for over a week. Not too comfortable with price and leaving diamond with strangers.

What is the setting made out of? Resizing platinum is a lot more expensive than resetting gold.

It's a bit much, but not too ridiculous. Whiteflash charges $100 to set a stone. I paid about $40 to resize a 14k gold wedding band. You could probably save a few bucks by making some phone calls to local jewelers and asking prices.

I don't know what they charge, but it's worth a quick call. Tell them Pricescope sent you.

Also try Merry Richards. They have two locations: Oak Brook and Glenview. I know Oak Brook has an in house bench.
