Do you all get this phenomena? Initially, you choose a nice stone, thought it was all bling and big. Next week, you realize the diamond was still bling but somehow shrunk in size. Next month, it got even smaller. A year later, you decide it needs a size upgrade

Is it hocus pocus or is it PS? :P

Any way, i think it is a happy problem so long we can afford it or get to admire the nice stones here

Hahaha! I think it''s definitely PS! And it has a term here-DSS, short for Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome!

Oh you have the PS affliction for sure, known as DSS!!!

So, it is a well known manifestation called DSS. Guess i am inflicted by it.

Yeah, it''s called DSS due to PS addiction...I''ve really never been too jealous of other people''s jewelry until I found this site, and now I''m addicted, just like the rest of ''em!!!

Welcome to PS, by the way!

Yep. One prescription is to hide the ring away for a few days, then once you wear it again - voila - shrinkage disappears( momentarily)....

I actually DO THAT! I hide it and wear a band for a few days. It really works!

Haha everyone here with large rocks! I was trying some loose diamonds in a setting with my DF and the 1 carat looked so small to me! I know that isn''t huge but a decent size. I would love to have some or your 2 or 3 carat stones! GORGEOUS!

OMG, this is hilarious. When FI proposed I remember thinking "wow, this stone is much bigger than I anticipated" and over the weeks it started looking smaller and smaller. I think that because it''s an asscher it actually does look a little smaller. I remember when a good friend of mine was proposed to with a RB I assumed it was 2 carats because it looked bigger than mine but found out that hers was 1.5 carats as well and I started thinking that the GIA certification for my ring was wrong, haha. I''ve compared my ring to a couple of other asschers that are the same carat weight (I know they won''t have the same dimensions) just to make sure it''s the same size because I''m nuts. I definitely have DSS. Well, DSS and large hands. There are so many gorgeous rings on this forum though that you can''t help but love them.

I''ve definitely been feeling peer DeBeers pressure for bigger bigger bigger and I don''t even have my diamond yet!

Honestly, as long as I have a better than average cut that way out-sparkles a maul stone, I''m happy. I don''t have to (and won''t be getting) the biggest stone. Also, the setting for me is extremely important to me so I won''t be spending the bare minimum on a setting to get a larger diamond. However, I feel a case of DSS coming on.

I, also, put my 1.5 ct ring away for the summer. I either wear a band, or a much smaller diamond.

This fall, my "big" diamond ring will look big and beautiful again.

(But I keep looking at those 2+ ct. Js. Maybe some day.....)

Yeah, I came here to get edjumacated, and all I''ve gotten so far is a whompin'' case of envy! Thanks a lot, PS!
