I was looking at a GIA certified Princess cut diamond.
Can someone give their expert opinion as to the overall cut and expected value of this stone?
Here are the GIA Cert #s:
Carat: 2.00
Meas: 6.72*6.63*5.11
Depth: 77.1%
Table: 73%
Culet: none
Polish: Very Good
Symm: Good

Here are the specs from Sarin: (why are they slightly different?)

Carat: 2.00
Meas: 6.73L x 6.64W x 5.16D
Crown Angle: 41.2 (9.7%)
Depth: 77.7% (
Pavillion Angle: 62 (61.1%)
Table %: 4.93mm (73.7%)
Girdle: Medium to Thick (6.9%, 4.9%-8.9%)
Clarity: VS2
Color: H
Flour: Faint

Your help on the quality and scintillation on this stone would be helpful!!!

I couldn't possibly comment on the appearance of this diamond, as princesses are best judged visually, but I'd pass on it for the simple reason that it is very deep and will look more like 1.70 ct and not the 2.00 you're paying for.

We can't even begin to speculate on performance. Fancies are tough. You can use Cut Chart guidelines to screen candidates. From there, it comes down to performance testing and your eye.

The specs of the diamond are not the greatest. You have plenty of info to use a handy tool to rate the Cut Class. Go to www.gemappraisers.com and click on DIY Cut Grading in the left hand tool bar. After that follow the prompts to enter the information on your diamond. At the end, the system will rate the Cut Class for you, and you'll have the Cut Charts available as well to compare to.

On the Q about the Sarin,..... Maybe the machine was not calibrated properly. Maybe the diamond or the Sarin machine was dirty. Small variances do occur between a Sarin and the Cert from time to time. When larger variances appear, the Sarin really needs to be repeated to verify the results.
