Hello everyone

I''ve enjoyed these forums for a while now as a lurker, and now I''m looking for some advice to help me find my new diamond.
I have been offered a diamond to look at by a local diamond merchant in my city.
I''d really appreciate any comment & opinions. I''ve done quite a lot of research myself but a lot of the information he provided about this stone is getting a bit to technical for me!

thanks in anticipation
Nikki

Welcome to PS.

I would see if this vendor has a Sarin report and an Idealscope image to be able to further evaluate this diamond. It is facing up slightly smaller than it should for various reasons, more like a 1.3 - 1.4 ct going by the diameter measurements. Also you need to check that this diamond is eyeclean and that the I colour is ok for you, depending on individual tolerances, some might begin to see a touch of warmth in an I grade and especially from the side, but many are fine with this and an I can still face up very white, especially as this stone has strong blue fluorescence - check with the vendor that the diamond doesn't look oily or cloudy in sunlight, this is rare, but check. Can you see this diamond in person?

Thanks Lorelei

I have attached some more information that was provided to me - are these what you are referring to?

thanks

Lost my post - meh! Thanks - the Idealscope image shows a ring of leakage around the table as the steep and deep crown and pavillion angle indicate ( possible ring of death as it is called), this would make me pass unless you have seen this diamond and love it.

The stone isn''t great:
HCA = 2.9 with VG for fire, brilliance, scintillation and spread.
For a round stone, you can do better with the other stats too. It isn''t difficult to find a RB with better symmetry, polish and a less thick girdle.

Lorelei,
Aren''t the two pics shown the H&A images? They don''t look like an Idealscope pic to me although the red circle at the table worries me a little.

Actually I think you are right Chronie, as the image was indistinct for H&A I zeroed in on the leakage!

thankyou for your comments. I guess I''ll pass on this one and do some more searching.
I probably have to go smaller in size for a better cut to suit my budget.

thanks again

Nikki
