Diamond Jewelry:

Hello everyone: I am new to this site and have been enjoying reading, surfing and learning about different kinds of jewelry. I am a wife, mother 3 young kids, 35 yrs old and I am a registered nurse and love every aspect of my job. However, my family is my first love and jewelry my second. I live and breath for my family and jewelry, I own several beautiful pieces, lots of pave diamonds, and a few preicous gemstones pieces as well. My question to you all of is: do you think that diamond creates the illusion of power, wealth and influence? If so, how & why?

Diamonds alone? Without the car, clothes, home? No. don''t think any type of jewelry creates the illusion of wealth. I also think that there is a such a thing as too much and when I see a person all blinged out for no reason (like grocery shopping in sweats), the only illusion it creates to me is tacky.

I think with the advent of man-made things that can be bought cheaply in place of diamonds people tend to be desensitized to bling.

Although they used to be rare and difficult to manufacture symbols of the wealthy and powerful; present mining and cutting technology has allowed anyone with a credit-card to own and flaunt diamonds.

I would say that certain diamonds are considered more "posh" (wealth+prestige) than others by society (Asscher cuts and Emerald cuts vs Hearts and Marquis), But I don''t think any diamond lends a sence of power to the wearer.
