Hi PS''ers! This forum is great and I''ve crunched through an amazing amount of information in a short time. Unfortunately I''m a little impulsive and found a diamond meeting the specs I was looking for and I bought it.

It''s on the way.

This is one of the new AGS reports, and I can see from the generated light image that it won''t meet a H&A status, but I''d be happy if the diamond was otherwise brilliant and has decent fire. double checking the HCA indicates it may be ok.

It seemed like a good deal, but since I have only a 10 day inspection period I need to look at the stone with a critical eye ... and consider alternatives if need be. What do you think? I''m not concerned with the clarity or color as I''m sure that will be fine. As a newbie, is there anything special I should look for in terms of light performance based on the numbers?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Ummm, I'd say that an AGS0 is a no-brainer! I don't think you need to worry about the numbers! And I'll have to say, I think you got a fantastic price!

(PS: You don't need to put numbers from an AGS0 into the HCA. It has the AGS light performance testing already. We use the HCA to out in numbers from other labs to see if the stone meets the numerical parameters of an AGS0.)

yep! looks like it will be stunning!

Looks like you picked a winner, just take it on a good test drive and check it out in as many different lighting conditions as you can to make sure you like how it looks.

Looks good from the numbers.

Good luck. :)

Sounds like you got a great deal. Where did you purchase your diamond? I am still hunting for the perfect one.

Thanks for checking out the specs and giving feedback. Your comments are reassuring -- guess it''s part of the "mind clean" process.

I''m really looking forward to seeing the diamond in person!!!

Yes, I''ll definitely take the diamond in various lighting to test it out. A short history: this isn''t my first online diamond purchase, and thus far buying a diamond online or in a store is harder that I originally thought. I previously purchased a 1.2 carat BN diamond with a GIA Excellent grade, and I was disappointed. The diamond looked great in some light, but looked black in more challenging lighting conditions and sometimes when looking from different viewing distances. Aargh!!! This is what led me to Pricescope ... and plugging the BN GIA numbers into the HCA gave a 2.6 score. Had I known about this HCA tool before I would have automatically screened out that diamond.

Researching pavilion/crown angles, then watching the head obstruction video, led me to believe it could have been an obstruction issue as the effect was the same as the video. Or maybe it was another problem … anyway … the tools + videos + discussions here confirmed that I could do better, so I returned the BN diamond. I will say that BN''s return policy was extremely simple and hassle free.

I''ve been to some B&M retailers as well, but the experience sent me back online. And I researched and searched.

I purchased the 1.33 carat diamond from Abazias. I had narrowed down my search to only AGS-0 stones figuring it increased the chances of success (I''m aware that some GIA stones look great also but figured I''d try AGS after my failed GIA effort). While looking, I came across the 1.33 carat Abazias diamond and was surprised by the price and the AGS light performance -- I liked the visual light simulation in the new AGS report format compared to their prior reports. So I bought it

. Abazias did check with the cutter, and the cutter said the stone looked "absolutely gorgeous". Hahaha, I do value subjective data, but having PS’ers double check the specs and AGS report and stating the diamond was likely very nice was reassuring.

The moment of truth is when I get to see it. I''ll let the forum know how it turns out.
