2. I turned on macro on my Canon SD 850, but there must be a setting to improve the pictures. What else can i set?

3. The setting may only be temporary since I didn''t really like any setting. So I got a cheap 14k white gold one. I''ll let my GF decide if she wants another.

I would take the picture a little further away. The ring looks pretty.

I have a canon sd camera as well. You should set the camera mode to macro (the icon is a flower). Then when you press the shutter button, make sure you see a green square, if you see a yellow square, the image will likely be out of focus.
