Hello,
I'm new to this forum but I've been "lurking in the shadows" reading other threads and trying to educate myself so I can speak somewhat intelligently to members with more expertise than myself. I'm in the process of putting together an e-ring with a timeline of 2-4 months so not a huge rush. My girlfriend has already decided she wants this setting in platinum:

My remaining budget for the diamond is ~$5000 - $5500 max.
These are the specs I'm considering and my line of thought.
Cut: Ideal (AGS) or Excellent (GIA), i'm only considering diamonds graded by these labs but am indifferent between the two
Color: F-G, I would happily go to H but I'm worried that I shouldn't go below the color of the side stones (G/VS)
Clarity: VS2-SI2, I honestly don't care as long as there aren't any visible inclusions ("eye clean")
Carat: 0.85 - 0.99, she has small hands (~4.25) and doesn't want anything too flashy.
Symmetry: > Excellent
Polish: > Excellent
Fluorescence: don't mind it as long as it doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the stone in day-to-day wearing conditions.
I haven't chose a particular vendor yet but am restricted to the ones that sell the vatche line. I have read a lot of positive things about Whiteflash but I find their diamonds a little pricier than some of the other reputable vendors discussed here. I'm assuming that I should probably look at getting the diamond and ring from the same place? This is my first (and hopefully last) time buying an engagement ring so I don't really know what all of my options are.
