That is an outstanding choice! I have had H VS2 ACA's for my earrings before and they are gorgeous stones!

Can't go wrong with an ACA.

i forgot i am going with a custum setting based off of this http://www.whiteflash.com/gallery/diamond-engagement-rings/custom-7-stone-u-prong-diamond-engagement-ring-25101.htm it is going to have graduated stones starting a .12 then .15 then .25 the largest does this seem like a good setting and main stone combo

Are those in the same proportion as the ring in the picture? I would have them lay all the stones out in order and see if
you like the sizes together. Should be a beautiful ring!

Mmmm...I would absolutely not go over 5 stones. That ring is probably not comfortable. I really would prefer three stones the most. You could put .25-.50 stones on either side of the 1 carat stone and have a gorgeous ring. I really would put the money into a larger center stone before I'd do a 7 stone. Most people are making 5 stone rings with 5 30-point stones, and that covers the top of most fingers. So I think 7 is too many unless she has specifically asked for that particular ring. I would not want it, personally, if I could have three more significant stones.

Yes thay are in the same proportions as the other I had them lay them out and take pictures also I had originally planned on just a large solitare but when I casually brought the idea up( I want to suprise her) she pointed out a 7 stone and said she liked it so that's why I'm going with it is that a bad idea

I'd stick with 5. If those stones go around the side of her finger, it will be uncomfortable. Just eliminate the two smallest stones and go with 5. There are a couple of people here with 5 stone engagement rings and I think that is a much better choice. Let me look for a thread with pictures.

Here is one with a carat center stone like yours, .40's, and .20's. Very nice proportions and more than enough finger coverage.

I'm assuming that this is for an engagement ring? I think that the design is gorgeous  , but I agree with DS. If this is a ring that she is going to wear every single day, then the diamonds are going to be between her fingers and could be very uncomfortable. If she was only wearing on special occasions, I'd so go for it, but for everyday it wouldn't be my first choice. I think graduated five stone rings are beautiful and with .25 .5 side stones with a 1ct center, it will look very impressive on the hand! :sun: Maybe you could ask WF to lay out and photograph the diamonds for a five stone and see what you think?

Listen to DS2006

YES IT IS AN ENGAGMENT RING I HAD NOT THOUGHT ABOUT HER FINGERS RUBBING THE DIAMOND THOUGH IF ANYONE HAS A 7 STONE AND CARES TO COMMENT OR POST PICS I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IM GOING TO TALK TO LIZA FROM WHITEFLASH TODAY ABOUT MY SETTING IDEAS

HAY UYS IM STILL TRYING TO DICIDE WHAT TO DO ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT I JUST CANT MAKE UP MY MIND ANYONE WITH A 7 STONE PLZ COMMENT THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ADVICE

The fact is, most people with 7 stone rings have them as wedding bands with all 8 point stones or all 10 point stones, etc. You are not going to find hardly anyone on this forum with a 7 stone graduated engagement ring. As I said before, we have a few people with graduated 5 stone engagement rings.

Plenty of people wear eternity bands. If they are made well, they are comfy. How often do you have all your fingers jammed together anyway?

Check out this gorgeous whiteflash seven stone. I love this ring. Look familiar?

Hi William, this link JaneSmith provided shows a consumer purchase virtually identical to yours but with larger diamonds and a small finger size. At the end of the second page someone asks how comfortable his wife finds it and his response is that his wife finds it comfortable, similar to an eternity band. An eternity band is when diamonds go around the entire ring. More people will probably own eternity bands so may be able to comment on how comfortable they find their eternity bands to help you make a decision.

I have also been in a similar delimma thinking about the comfort of an eternity band. Jewellers have said to me, similar to what Jane said that your fingers don't 'jam up against each other'. However, I do suspect it is a feeling that you would have to get used to - though it may not be uncomfortable, it may take some adjusting.

For an engagement ring (and wedding band next to it) it is an item of jewellery you will wear every day - and comfort will be important. Hopefully people with eternity bands with larger stones or people who have have large five stone rings (that may have overhang) will give you some feedback. Some people have five stone rings with the centre diamond being 2-3 carats on this site (I can't remember the side stones off the top of my head) but there is a chance in those rings that the diamonds spanning the finger will wrap around a bit and they are worn as engagement rings.

You are considering 0.25, 0.15, 0.12 and a one carat centre. I'll see if people get back to you with their ring dimensions.

What finger size does your GF have?

what size is your girlfriends finger? IMO it might be more comfortable on a size 7.5 than a 4.5. Plus, if she has a small finger will the last set be seen?

I've seen on here (from memory)

A size 4 finger with 0.1, 0.4, 2.75 centre, 0.4, 0.1

A size 3.5-4 finger of 0.4, 0.4, 0.4, 0.4, 0.4

So large finger coverage has been done before.

But yes, if her finger size is larger you will have even less concern.

she has 5.5 to 6 ring finger thank you guys and girls for all the advice if i can get a little bit of help from anyone with eternity bands plz chime in

Yep, you will definitely need to hear some stories of comfort of eternity bands (as that is what the fit will be like) or seriously consider the five stone option. Based on her ring finger size and the size of the diamonds you are hoping to put together on the same ring there will be overhang. Also on the 7 stones there are the additional prongs to take into consideration too.

I think something proportional to the one DS posted in a prior link for your GF in a size 6 setting, would look stunning. However, if your heart is set on the 7 stones...you need to explore your options.

Hopefully people will chime in soon :))

I would love any comments from anyone with an eternity band thanks guys and girls for all the help so far
