Diamond from one Sponsor Setting from another

Once again I need your help PS Experts.

I'm buying my diamond from one featured sponsor and the setting from another, but have just found out that I'd need to take them both to a local jeweler to have the diamond set into the setting. Is this usual? I'd assumed the jeweler who made the setting would set the stone.

Now I am figuring there would be no warranty with the diamond or the setting as either could be damaged by the local jeweler? I don't know if I'm comfortable with the small local jeweler doing this work for me I believe he's self taught.

Any insight would be so appreciated.

Can we get specifics?
Which diamond seller. Which setting? Why can't you buy a stone from the same place as the setting

JA does not have the setting I'm looking for Niel, but they do have the diamond.
B2C don't have a diamond I like. But they can make the setting. When I asked them if they would set the diamond in their setting they said they don't do that and that I'd need to take both the setting and stone to my local jewler and have them set it for me.
This is a picture of the style of setting I would like. Without shoulder stones.

You need to switch to David Klass for your setting. He will set your stone. Either the diamond seller or the setting seller should set the stone. B2C is primarily a diamond seller and they mainly carry settings for the people who buy their stones, same with James Allen. Go with a setting maker who will take your stone, make a setting to fit and set the stone for you.

Thanks Diamondseeker. Where do I find David?

You may find examples of David's work on his Facebook page. And you can contact him via: [email protected]
He is quite the PS darling, so it may take a while before he responds. If that happens, try to call him.

I agree with the DK recommendation.

Do not buy a heart halo from a vendor who doesn't have the heart in hand. There will be fit issues and gaps. Not good.

Oh thank you Gypsy! I was so worried about that. They said they could go by the stone's measurments, but that didn't fill me with confidence.

With a heart, unless they have a 3D scan of the stone it's too big a risk.

Thanks Gypsy. I am definitely having the same jeweler who makes the setting also set the stone.

I've learned so much from all of you. Thanks for sharing the knowledge and giving your time to help we who have no clue make better decisions. ❤️

Oh, please use one of these as your inspiration image for the halo porion to David instead. I know you want a plain shank. Just make sure uou specify that. Amd if you want a cathedral shank specify that too.
