I''m looking to buy a diamond pendant for my wife. 1/2 ct round in bezel setting. Does anyone have experience with BN or WF pre-set necklaces? Is that the best way to go?

I was thinking of building my own with the following:

Carat weight: 0.49
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: SI1
Depth %: 61.8%
Table %: 55.4%
Symmetry: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to thick
Culet: Pointed
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.05 x 5.10 x 3.14 mm

Cut Advisor:
Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.3 - Excellent
within TIC range

Seems like same price but at least I''m guaranteed a bit better quality. Is the girdle a concern here? Diameter variance? I assume not because of the AGS000, but figured I would ask the PS masses.

Thanks!!

Is that a BN stone? What is the number on the report? BN has a problem with translating girdle numbers to description of AGS report.

Welcome!

Can you post the crown and pavilion angles please and also the diameter? The girdle is fine, it is known that this is a glitch in BN's software when trying to put the AGS girdle measurements from the report to their page, if you post it in percents that will help and it is very likely fine anway.

Yes - Blue NIle. Stock number LD01067411. Cert is fuzzy, but I think the angles are 34.6 & 40.8 and girdle is between .8% and 4%.

Is this better than the stone that would come in the pre-set necklaces?

Do you have the actual grading report # please?

That all looks fine, girdle is thin to slightly thick. I would rather have a diamond of known proportions and cut quality certainly than a preset.

Stone Cold - do you think that is a better rock? It is $100 cheaper and faces up larger, so both seem like a plus. Why is the cut only "good"? Is it too shallow? Is that an issue for a pendant?

It is cut shallow in the pavilion, not suitable for a ring as it will likely face obstruction issue in a ring setting, resulting in the darkening of the stone when viewed closer than 10in. As a pendant stone, it is unlikely to encounter similar suituation. GIA/AGS grade stones according to the majority of the market, which is for a ring.

WF''s pendants are lovely. I have bought 2 from them, a bezel and the martini. I supplied my own stones but would trust their selection in a Ready-Set-Go. I think they would show you the stone first and give you a choice but since they used their Expert Selection stones they would all be excellent cuts. Give them a call.

BN is a bit cheaper, so I am trying to save some money if I can. What about this stone? Color is better, which I like. Is the girdle too thin? It will be in a bezel setting, so should I not worry about that?

The diamond has definite potential, the girdle is fine.
