Has anyone had any experiences with the Diamond Doctor in Dallas? How are their prices compared to prices of diamonds found using the pricescope search tool? Any help is appreciated.

Seems really expensive compared to PS vendors. A 1 ct J VS2 with Good cut (this means BAD by PS standards) is $6338! http://www.diamonddoctor.com/rapaport_viewitem.asp?idProduct=553110

You can get this Brian Gavin stone for more than $300 less and it will be 10000x more amazing in terms of cut and light performance: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.048-j-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104062571020

My friend got her ring about a year ago there, and mostly because the setting she fell in love with was at that store. Her fiance thought it was easiest to make the purchase at the same spot, especially since we all live in SF - but I remember doing the comparisons and it was about 2-3k higher from comps on pricescope (1.7ct, G, VS2) and not really the chunky cut she was originally looking for (but she does love it!). That was also for a slightly elongated cushion (rectangular instead of square) which apparently is usually slightly cheaper because of supply/demand (but PS experts correct me if I'm wrong).

If she went slightly lower color and with an AVC (http://www.goodoldgold.com), it would've came out to about the same price, for the same carat weight (I recall helping him do the calcs). I do know that he did enjoy working with them and got great, quick service (he only had the weekend there to make the purchase).

Overpriced. Didn't have much I was interested in. There's a Crafted by Infinity dealer in the WTC if you want an ideally cut diamond (you can look it up on the Crafted by Infinity website)... that carries the Crafted by Infinity markup but is imo much higher quality for the price. I'd find setting styles to try on but buy online. My ring is from Mariloff at the WTC and the setting is reasonably nice quality (higher quality than ~95% of rings out there, but lower quality than the favorite pricescope vendors... nothing to scoff at though, certainly) and the prices are good but if you want an ideally-cut GIA-graded diamond you'll have to specifically request that and double-check all of it (like I had to with my sapphire requirements... it was easy for me because I'm picky but it may be less easy for you depending on your personality). Prices were pretty much in line with what you'd get from PS vendors for similar quality.
