(I am not sure this is the right place, but after reading through the descriptions it is the best fit)

I have a just over 1 carat Princess Cut Diamond, on a solitaire platinum setting, that has me in a dilemma. I own this from a previous engagement attempt. I spent a lot of time picking it out and the stone is gorgeous. My luck has changed and I will be in the position to propose to a new more deserving woman soon and I think I have a handle on what my girlfriend wants and basically it is none of the above. Doesn''t that just figure? Changing out the band isn''t a big deal, but the diamond is an issue. She wants something more round so either as far as I can tell I can either sell (take the loss and start over), trade (if possible), or recut aka round the corners (if possible)...

Anyone have any suggestions for information for me?

Thanks,

John

Sell it private party, perhaps Craigslist.

Many woman would not want a diamond bought for another woman even if it was recut.
And don't even think of recutting it secretly.
If she one day finds the receipt you are dogmeat.

She knows and wouldn't mind. Seriously...

She obviously doesn't want the setting for multiple reasons. I believe Reselling is the best option as it gets me going from a clean slate. Is trading a possibility? I wouldn't mind a smaller diamond, different cut, same grade...

Thanks,

John

Hi John

As Ken suggests, selling it might be your best option - you could try consignment, the vendor takes a percentage if a sale results.

www.pearlmansjewelers.com offer a consignment program so you could contact them for more info.
