Have been slowly narrowing down diamonds...saw a a few in person today that I really liked and curious on thoughts of the more educated among us!
Questions: how does the value seem price-wise? and any thoughts between diamond #1 and #2
Both are round brilliant

#1 -- 1.31c, h-color, gia excellent cut/polish/symm, SI1 clarity (eye clean, by me and jeweler) but small black inclusion seen through outer edge of table --> $11,125

#2 -- 1.42c, h-color, gia very good cut, ex polish, ex symm, SI1 (eye clean, by me and jeweler) a few small crystals, and surface graining that is slight --> $12,600

thank you so much!!!!

I'm still pretty new here myself, and I won't be able to help you directly,

However I can tell you that the people who can help you will want the GIA number for the stones, and the cut angles and other angle information to plug it into the HCA tool at the top of the website.

Trying to cut down on your wait time by having that info available for the real experts around here :)

Thanks Casey! I'll get the info and post-back...

You're learning Casey! Great job!

I read a lot of the threads where people are shopping for stones, and usually the first reply is asking for the lab report numbers :)

From the information you provided, No. 1 looks better on the basis of the cut grade. Providing pavilion and crown angles, as well as depth and table percentages, will further assist in analysis.

OK UPDATES with more info...I REALLY APPRECIATE the posts thus far and would LOVE more input...again I really appreciate the sharing of all this knowledge!

#1 -- 1.31c, h-color, gia excellent cut/polish/symm, SI1 clarity (eye clean, by me and jeweler) but small black inclusion seen through outer edge of table --> $11,125
Table 57%, Depth 63.4%, Crown Angle 36.5%, Pavilion Angle 41.2% which gives it HCA of 5.0

#2 -- 1.42c, h-color, gia very good cut, ex polish, ex symm, SI1 (eye clean, by me and jeweler) a few small crystals, and surface graining that is slight --> $12,600
Table 56%, Depth 62.1%, Crown Angle 34%, Pavilion Angle 41.4% which gives it HCA of 4.6

#3 -- I found a third stone (online not jeweler)
1.4c, F-color, GIA ex/ex/ex, SI2 but reported as eye clean by a jeweler
Table 55%, Depth 61.2%, Crown 32.5%, Pav 41.0% which gives a HCA of 0.7
$11,100
the GIA diagram has many clouds but who knows of course

I don't have idealscopes on any of these...
would love thoughts on comparions and value...am getting short'ish on time
thank you!

I would not touch the diamonds from the local jeweler, they have terrible cut quality.

One thing you need to add if you list more stones is the diameter measurement. #1 is very deep and it probably faces up smaller than it should for it's weight. #1 and #2 are out because of poor cut. #3 just has a low crown and I wouldn't want it either. You can do better than #3 if you're willing to look at online stones. You need the idealscope images, so you might want to look at the sites of vendors who provide them on in-house stones like Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, Brian Gavin, and some on James Allen.
