A well cut round brilliant will cost more than all other shapes except for a well cut marquise because the diamond rough used to cut a round brilliant costs more from DeBeers than the diamond rough used to produce other shapes. The marquise brilliant generally costs more because more diamond rough is lost in the cutting process in order to properly shape the tips of the stone. It is important to realize that we are making this statement with the understanding that you are looking at well cut stones, a poorly cut round brilliant could certainly cost less than a well cut Radiant or other fancy shape stone...
