Diamond Cut Comparison

I would love to see some sort of comparison between diamond cuts. Meaning the same size diamond with an ideal cut and non ideal cuts side by side.

There's actually no effective method of showing what you're asking at this time, if we're trying to compare Fancy Shapes.
In round diamonds the difference between the "Ideal" and "regular" will be very small.
IN Fancy Shapes, there are HUGE variations in spread from one particular Pear Shape ( for example) to another.
When it comes to Fancy Shapes in particular, many of the stones being sold as "Ideal" will be considerably smaller face up that other non branded "spready" diamonds.

Hi DF,
If we are comparing round diamonds, all GIA EX and AGSL0 cut grade- some will be considered "ideal" ( below 2 on HCA, branded, etc) there will be differences in spread, but they will be small.

There's no accepted "Ideal" for fancy shapes by GIA- and the variation in fancy shaped diamond's spread will be considerable from one stone to another of a similar weight.
One example we can use is Princess cuts- AGSL standards will produce an ASET that will be loved here- but a much smaller stone than many people who love princess cuts are used to for the weight.

If spready stones are as good as you say wouldn't all the cutters on earth shoot for a 6.7mm 1ct rb so that it'll look much bigger than a MRB ideal cut of 6.45 - 6.5mm?

Yes, I do DF.
For me, the light dispersion from the AGSL 0's is not more attractive than a well cut stone with a lower crown, larger table and more spread.
But of course it's a matter of degrees.
There's PLENTY of horribly cut generic princess cuts- that will include stones that are too heavy, or too spready.
