hello everyone,

ive looked here on ps for some threads regarding diamond.com. and yes i mean the singular diamond rather then diamonds. anyway i typed in my normal search results and i was rather shocked at what returned. i found princess cuts there with table and depth in the 65-69 range and color around d-f clarity vs1-si1. what killed me was their pricing which was 200-300 dollars lower than what ive normally encountered searching here on ps. oh yeah forgot to mention the carat range i typed in was .60-.70. so im just wondering whats the catch, i know they are a mega business and they can cut some corners here and there. but gia reports like these i would be expecting the stone to be way more expensive then the site reports. the other thing is these stones are probably off a list and one could never get pictures or something like that. but has anyone had any experience with this company? im just wondering why there hasn''t been many posts regarding them. this could be a bad thing i suppose? anyway, if anyone has anything regarding this topic id love to hear from you!!

Hi Viscera. I've been searching for a stone for some time now and did have some limited experience with Diamond.com.

I was initially interested in using Diamond.com since they were located in south florida, like me. I contacted them about 2 stones they showed on their site. Much to my dismay, they said they do not have the ability for anyone to see the stones they list. I asked if I could drive to see them (they are only 4 miles from where I live) but they said no, they don't have that ability. I asked if their sales person could meet me...but again no.

I was looking to purchase a fancy shape stone that was close to $20,000 and really wanted to try and see it. Since they have no ability at all, it was apparant they are stictly a phone type company...no actual location for viewing stones.

I also compared identical stones they had listed to some on PS. In every instance, Diamond.com was more expensive by about 5%.

They were very nice on the phone, and I would guess that there are many customers who are very happy with the. I just wanted to relay what I personally learned.

hello diamond demon

thanks for the reply. wow, a 20 000 diamond, hell i could pay off some of my student loans what that!!! thats interesting that you found ps searches a lil more expensive i double checked again to make sure i didn't input any wrongful search criteria and i am still coming up with better prices for aga 1a standard diamonds that are cheaper than the ps search strings. anyway, thanks again for your post, although i don't know about that whole i can't view the stone. i suppose i'll have to check out their return policy.

Viscera - I found Diamond.com to be more expensive for the same exact diamond.

Here's a way to check..pick out one or two stones on Diamond.com. Write down everything about that stone including measurements etc. Then go to ps and search for the same stone..in nearly all cases the same stone will be there. Do your price comparison.

Happy shopping.

I just purchased a pair of princess studs from diamond.com. I chose out the stones first, both .34 E Vs2 table 68 depth 68 vg vg in polish and symmetry and thn-med girldes GIA. Each one was priced at 411. After having them set in 14k white gold studs the total was 888. I ran a search here on ps for similar stones and could not find any even close to those prices. I think diamond.com has excellent prices at least on princess on less than .6 carats. If you do a seach on bigger princesses, over .8, you don't get that many well cut stones. I received the earings on friday and they are amazing. I plan on taking them to get appraised and then I will truly be able to gauge whether or not I got a good deal. I tried posting pics but the file size was too large, I'll need to take more pics and lower resolution. I also have to say that Steve at diamond.com was such a pleasure to work with and I would fully recommend them to anyone.

oh....I don't believe their diamonds are from a "list." When I called to inquire about the .34 princesses they had them in house. I know that alot of their diamonds listed on their site do not have viewable GIA's, but every now and again one will pop up. I'm not too sure about the history about this company, but if I'm not mistaken they use to be called odimo and they are a huge buyer of diamonds. I think that you can go onto their website and look under "about us" to find out more about them. As a very satisfied customer, I can say that there is no catch to their low prices (at least on well cut princess in the lower carat range)
