Just thought I'd post some thoughts on this....
I recently purchased an ering that I posted in the 'show me the ring' forum a while back (the pics don't come close to showing the color of the diamond, I've tried several times....grrrr...).
It is a 1.13 carat F VVS2 Princess.

Since giving it to my girlfriend (she said yes...:)), one of the things that we both love the most about the diamond is how white/bright it is. I mean, it is -really- noticable. I'm not even talking about sparkle, just the color.

I just wanted to post that because I think a lot of people decide to skimp on the color, but I am -really- happy that I didn't go lower than F, as we love the color and seems to make the stone really stand out, and it seems so much brighter (glass-like) than the stones we would typically see in the local jewelry chain stores (got this one from James Allen).

Just my .02

Glad to hear she loves it and you both are pleased. From one colorless lover to another, I hear ya.

I had an I but when I upgraded I ended up with a D due to chance, and now I''m spoiled forever.

I think color is more evident in princess cut stones than in rounds and everyone has different tolerances on the color issue. When I had princess cut stud earrings they were F in color and looked so white and pretty. I''m glad all went well with your purchase.

I''m hearin'' ya too! I could talk ''colour'' all day long! I have a round E and I just love how colourless and clear it is when I see the side view. I definitely think that for the bigger stones size becomes more important coz they sit higher and you often find yourself looking ''through'' the side of the stone.

The stone you purchased sounds divine! It''s nice to hear someone appreciating the colour of their diamond too. Don''t get me wrong, I LOVE all diamonds no matter what their colour and I do like the golden warmth of the I''s J''s etc but the icy whiteness of the D''s E''s & F''s makes me salivate!

Congrats on your engagement - how lovely for you both!

Ditto! I''m color sensitive and have an F VS2 princess and love it! I''m also very pale and the lower colors show are apparent against my skin tone.
