Does anyone know of an affordable tool for cleaning diamonds like the pros do??? I''d like to get my wife something for her birthday to help maintain her diamond. She''s a teacher and the chalk dust is constantly building up on her new ring.

Does anybody know if this machine works well?

I have an ultrasonic and a jeweljet. Love them both. Don't kill me here . . . but I don't have time to clean my ring everyday so I clean it about 2-3 times a week. It has only been a few weeks but I can always tell the difference when I clean the ring, it is so shiny. As long as there isn't something too delicate about the setting, using an ultrasonic followed by a steaming with the jewel jet would be a good way to clean a ring with chalk dust. Most PS women clean their rings everyday I think, which is what I would do if I had the time

If you could only choose one, the ultrasonic or jeweljet, which would it be? Which gives a better clean?

what is the ring in question like? some ppl don''t recc''d using an ultrasonic on pave- you can do a search on ultrasonic & steam cleaning and read lots of stuff...

If you review the old threads, it seems that the ultrasonic is the cleaning tool of choice for most people, with the Sharper Image ultrasonic being a clear favorite.

If you do have a lot of pave, be careful, don''t put it on high, and don''t use it everyday. You''ll be fine as long as the pave is well done.

sorry, I don't have anything to add but I love your screen name

I heard people like the one you posted and the sonic cleaner. Some in a thread I read had both and think they both clean great!

I do love my Sharper Image ultrasonic! Got mine refurbished and it''s been over 2 years now, no problems!

I have the SI Ultrasonic and I LOVE it! I clean my ring every morning (sometimes at night too if I''m going out). I''m very anal about keeping it clean. I do notice, however, that even if I''ve just cleaned my ring, if I then have it steam cleaned (at a jewelry store) it makes a big difference (to me at least).

if I had to choose one and only one . . . I''d get the jewel jet and precede the steam cleaning with a rub down in soapy water, a cold water rinse and a HOT water soak for 10 minutes. The Ultrasonic just does all that in one go . . . there are a lot of threads on this so doing a search will give you lots of opinions.

If I had to choose one, I'd get the JewelJet. I chose to have only one and chose the JewelJet, and it works great. It's also quicker and uses no chemicals.
