Does anyone know what this stone is likely to look like?

Table - 59%
Depth - 62.2%
CA - 35.5
PA - 41.2

I''m not buying this stone - I''m trying to help out a friend with a significant purchase. This stone is in NY and the GIA report was faxed to us. It is a GIA Excellent and scores very poorly on the HCA (4.9). Can someone show me the ring of death, so that I can show him?

I''m afraid I can''t run a diamondcalc, but I would tell your friend to move on and try a different stone. There are definitely better cut stones out there.

Thanks Kcoursolle - I know, I''ve already told him that.

I figured...unfortunately, you can''t always convince people of the right thing to do. Another idea might be taking him to view diamonds in person and comparing steep/deep diamonds to AGS0 stones or something like that. Then he might be able to tell the difference. If you can''t convince him with some gentle prodding...don''t feel guilty about it.

You can point people in the right direction, but you can''t always get them to make the right decisions.

Just wanted to update - my friend just put the following stone on hold and is planning to purchase when GOG opens on Tuesday morning. This stone was $500 less than the previous stone in question (1.05, F VS2, GIA XXX - steep/deep).

Oh, so you were able to convince your friend to avoid the steep/deep and go with GOG? Nice!

Thanks! Now he is trying to decide on the setting - he knows he wants white gold. From GOG - he likes the Vatche X Prong and the Solasfera solitaire. He also likes the Legato Sleek Lines from Whiteflash. Suggestions?
