Hi,
My previous post was removed as it was a testimonial on a vendor who was banned cos it violated the forum rules. As it had some information which I think is useful for buyers from Singapore, I will extract the relevant portions.
A Big Thank You
Before I begin, I would like to say a big Thank You to all the people here! I have learnt so much just by using the "search" function.
A big Thank You to my fellow Singaporeans, Kevinng and Tomatoe, reading about your experiences here convinced me to take the plunge. If you guys are still around, it would be great if you could drop a note in this thread.

I am very happy with this stone. When I compared it to stones in the retail shops, it out shone and out sparkled all the ones put on display, even the Lazare Diamond sold by Larry’s (one of the high end jewelers).

I took the pictures myself, so what you see is what I got
Some Notes If You Are Buying From Singapore
1) Educate yourself thoroughly, regardless if you intend to buy a stone from one of the retail outlets or over the internet. I think its perfectly safe to buy over the internet if you know what to look out for and you purchase from a reputable vendor.
2) The wire transfer by DBS bank is easy to do. Even though the bank may claim that it takes 2-3 days for the wire to clear, the vendor received the transfer on the same day I sent it. (Tuesday)
3) FedEx delivered within 3 days. The vendor mailed the stone on Tuesday afternoon (NY) and I received it on Friday noon (Singapore). However, FedEx delivered the package to my home without calling me first. When my dad, who was at home, offered to sign for the package, the delivery man allowed him to without verifying that he was allowed to. Moral of the story, confirm your delivery instructions with your vendor before the package is sent out. FedEx allows you the option to hold it at the local FedEx station instead of delivering to your home.
4) I strongly recommend Mr Tay Thye Sun from Far East Gemological Laboratory if you want to do an appraisal. He charges $150 for a formal appraisal and is very thorough in his work. On top of that, he is suitably qualified and has a pleasent attitude. I think he is the only gemologist in Singapore who is certified by the Singapore Accreditation Council. The formal appraisal comes as a binded report. I have attached a picure of home the report looks like. His lab is at Orchard Tower, #03-10 and he is opened for business from 10 to 6, Monday to Saturday. Bring cash along as he does not have a NETS machine.
