Diamond Appraisers in NYC

I want to get all my ducks in a row, and be prepared once I find a diamond I like. Can anyone recommend any really good diamond appraisers in NYC? What was your personal experience with this particular appraiser if you have one?

For the future reference of other people who might find this thread by way of the search function, there is a list of appraisers available (by region) under the Resources menu option which appears at the top of the pages of Price Scope
