Hello,
I''m quite new to pricescope but I have been reading up big time over the last few weeks and am about to begin the process of having my engagement ring nade through Quest. I have been offered a diamond with the following specs:
.80ct E/VS1 (GIA certification) with excellent polish & excellent symmetry. It measures 6.03 x 5.31 x 3.23mm, 60.8% depth, 60% table, slightly thick to thick girdle thickness, and with a none fluorescence. These specifics are the traditional cushion ideal cut parameters. The price for this stone is $4,443.00 (US dollars).

I understand the 4c''s but when it comes to measurements (depth, table etc) it''s a bit over my head. Does this diamond sound reasonable and are there any more things are should be asking before I go ahead and purchase?

Thanks guys!

Well, if the color and clarity are important to you, then the price is fair at least.

But UNFORTUNATELY we can't really help you with whether it's a nice cushion or not without pictures, idealscope image, and ASET image.

Also, the depth ideally should be in the mid 60's and the table in the mid 50's. So on this stone it's a bit shallow and the table is big. If you've seen it in person and LOVE it it might not be a problem, but if you haven't it could have a very glassy effect with not much sparkle. Totally depends.

Please ask at LEAST for pictures of the stone, and preferably an idealscope image and an ASET.

Just for price comparison, my FI recently bought a .81 modern cushion G/VS2 Ex/Ex for under $3,000. So if you're looking to save some cash and are willing to drop the color a bit, you can get a MUCH better deal. Mine looks really white and is totally eyeclean.

Well, first of all, Pete at Quest is an exellent jeweler and designer. When I was searching for a vendor to do my custom work, Pete was very cooperative and very knowledgeable. So, if Pete tells you that it is a great stone, I would believe him. But, of course with cushions, you need to see it!!!

Also, Quest prices were a little bit higher than most.....not much, but a little bit. Would I get Quest to do a custom job for me!!?? YES.....they do excellent work.

Good Luck

Thanks for the advice. I''ve emailed Pete requesting images of the diamond so I''ll post them once he gets back to me.
