How do I determine the depth% for a pear with the measurements of 11.50 x 7.6 x 4.5.

Is there a rules for determining a good pear, what should I look for or not look for?

Thanks,

YMA

4.5/7.6=59%

Be careful with color. Pears can show more color in their tips so if you go with warmer colors (H and down) make sure you're okay with that.

Ditto Firegoddess...I honestly could see a decent amount of color from F-on when I looked at stones. (Mine''s a D SI1). Also, it is really important to get images of fancy shapes before choosing-numbers can''t tell the whole story here. Mine falls outside of the AGA ideal specs (thin-v thick girdle and 65.1% depth), but it was the prettiest. You may also want to see how "bowtie" sensitive you are and find a stone to suit your preference. My stone has a pretty distinct bowtie that doesn''t bother me in the least, but probably would bother some people.

Please come back and show us what you pick!:)
