Hello all-

This is my first time posting here so I hope that I do not come off as sounding naive. My soon to be significant other is set on getting a designer setting for a round brilliant with some side stones. We have looked at Tacori, but I am looking for advice on what settings are better than others when it comes to "names", and what can I work with to stay within my budget for the setting and an approximately (maybe a bit over) 1ct. round for around $10K. Thanks so much to all that reply, I cannot express enough gratitude for any of the help / advice that I receive.

Oh god help us. It's not Friday already, is it?

Hey, thanks so much for your advice, and the uncanny wit that you threw in there...priceless, just added all the more to the solid help that you provided.

Sorry, Jimmy. What Griffin is referring to is a heated debate over Tiffany that traditionally happens on Fridays.

To answer your question, $10K for a 1 carat give you a lot of wiggle room. A lot. You wouldn't have to spend more than $6k for the stone, give or take, if you stay around 1 carat and are looking for an ideal cut with a fairly high color and clarity. You probably would be able to afford the stone and all but the top-tier brand-name settings.

Could you give us an idea of what styles you're looking for? A lot of ppl here like the sleek, classic styles of Vatche, but if you're looking at Tacori you're looking at more ornate rings right?

Tacori settings are very beautiful and quite pricey, so if you go with that, I think you can spend about $6.5K on the stone, give or take a few hundred. This is dependent on the style, of course, if more or larger stones are in the setting.
