hi everyone! i''m a newbie and i am in need of some help...i need your expert opinions on determining whether or not this ring is a good deal based on the specs that are available which are listed below...

i also don''t understand the cut description...any insight on what they mean by a mod brilliant cut?

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks so much!

Welcome to PS! Unfortunately, princess cuts and other fancy shapes are hard to judge by numbers. Yours has potential, although the table looks to be a little on the large side for my tastes. Some say you should look for a table less than the depth. Which lab graded it?

Also, is this the diamond and ring together (since it says 950 plat)? The price looks to be in the right ballpark.

If that stone turns out not to be the one, I would consider this one as an alternative.

Square modified brilliant is just the technical name for princess cut.

thanks for the fast reply!

yes it''s the diamond and ring together and i believe it''s IGI and GIA certified...these numbers came from the IGI certificate but it had the GIA report number on it...which i cross referenced with the GIA report check...

thanks for the clarification on the cut...so i''m assuming that the actual cut is not mentioned in these stats...like whether or not it''s an ideal or very good or good cut...and i guess that''s not a good thing cuz cut is one of the important c''s rite?

Does that mean that GIA also verified the color and clarity? That''s important because IGI can be off a few color/clarity grades.

As for cut, that''s not exactly true. GIA does not grade cut quality of princesses. The only lab that does that is AGS. But you''re right; don''t compromise on cut! Can you get an Idealscope or ASET image for us? That helps with fancy cuts a lot.

Have you seen the diamond in person? Do you love it?

Especially ASET if you can get it plus detailed photos of the actual diamond otherwise we can't tell anything by numbers unfortunately. Also cut descriptions such as Ideal, Premium etc don't guarantee you a well cut stone, take each diamond on a case by case basis.
