Is there any real difference between the 2? For instance... I like this Ritani (Picture 1) but it costs $2000+

Then there is this off brand for $1100 (picture 2) coming up

Here is #2

just my very humble opinion, I actually like the blue nile better (but I also like 6 prongs vs 4), I don't buy just because its designer or not, just what pleases my eyes and if it means that its a designer piece and the cost is more, then that just means I need to save a little more for it.

If it were me, I would go with the Blue Nile (however, I am thrifty). Name brands dont mean that
much to me. What about your GF?

I heard that BN will not sell the setting unless you buy the diamond from them as well.

Now it seems they will "some", so you have to call to find out.

I would go for the cheaper version, provided it didn''t look "cheap".

hard to judge the quality from the pictures but all things being equal I would probably go with the cheaper one. You''ll just have to do the research to make sure you are indeed comparing apples to apples. Ritani settings are very well made and we seldom hear of them losing any stones out of their settings. There are gals here that even put them in ultrasonic cleaners and they manage to hold up. Ritani also has local dealers in most major cities making it easy to get your ring serviced if the need should arise. To some, that might be worth paying a little bit more on the front end. I don''t know anything about Bluenile''s warranties though so they might be equal and just as easy to access and I''ve never seen a BN setting in person so I just couldn''t comment on whether the workmanship is the same.
