I have a general quesiton about princess cut diamonds. What is an ideal ratio between table percentage and depth percentage. I have seen both fall into an ideal class but sometimes the depth % is higher and somtimes the table % is higher. Does that matter? Thanks.

it depends on what the table is.

generally, the table<depth, but don''t buy by the numbers. get an ideal scope image or AGS light performance stone.

Start with an AGS0 graded for light performance and work from there...not all are equal, but it''s a good starting point...go for a VERY square stone and a crown height of at least 10%...you really need to see the stone too!...good luck!...actually, AGS1 graded stones for light performance can be great also...just depends!

Are you sure on this? I am looking at 8 diamonds on bluenile.com. They are all very good cut and they all show that the table percentage is larger than the depth. Thanks for your input.

yes, table is usually less than depth. when table is greater than depth, the crown height can be insufficient.
