If an emerald cut has a pointed culet versusone with no culet, won't this create a misleading depth percentage comparison??

I am just assuming that a pointed culet will go into the overall depth % calculations. as opposed to a stone which has no culet...?

I know that weight is wasted in the culet, but I am just trying to ascertain whether an emerald with a pointed culet and a depth in the low 70% range will still have some promise of being an attractive stone--as opposed to a stone of similar depth with a culet?

EDITED AFTER POSTING: OOPS...I misunderstood that a no culet means the same as pointed. Sorry

'Pointed' and 'None' means the same thing - a culet pointy and sharp like a needle tip, too small to be worth measuring.

Now, emerald cuts don't have a culet unless they are square. Otherwise the pavilion facets end in a keel (edge) not a pint.

Rectangular emerald cut diamonds with a culet are sometimes done... try once in a blue moon. Is this what you have? If so, I would surely love to see the thing!

Btw. what do you mean by 'weight wasted in the culet'

Where does the statement come from? The culet is an edge without weight by definition.

Oops. I just did some reading and I think that a pointed culet is the same as no culet. Am I right? If so I am a doofus for posting a silly question. Sorry I am a newbie
