Wondering what the effect will be on the overall appearance of an emerald cut with an extremely small depth %. I am looking at small diamonds less than 1 carat and came across an emerald cut with the following measurables...

Carat Weight: 0.60 ct

Depth %: 42.3 %

Table %: 71 %

Polish: Very Good

Symmetry: Good

Measurements: 6.41 x 4.61 x 1.95 mm

Length To Width: 1.39 to 1

Girdle: V. Thick

Culet: None

Obv for a cheaper diamond I like the spread but as a complete novice to diamonds I am curious how the low depth effects things. I cannot get actual pictures of the diamond.

Don't even consider buying any diamond without pictures. But that diamond's table is huge. I would rule it out based on that regardless of depth, but it is extremely shallow. You need an ASET image to judge the cut. Good Old Gold will call in stones for you and check cut and light performance, or you can choose three stones from James Allen and they will provide the images. They also have video of the stones online.

The chances of this being a sparkly EC is slim to none. With the huge table and super shallow depth, it is going to behave like a piece of glass due to massive leakage.

If they managed to avoid a ton of leakage there would be a ton of blue in ASET.
Realistically I would expect a lot of blue and a lot of white in ASET white.

You are taking a huge chance at getting a diamond based on numbers only...especially a tricky cut like an EC. I somehow feel like with an emerald cut, you can easily notice flaws and poorly cut diamonds can show a lot of "dead" space and a "huge" bowtie effect...meaning, not much life and sparkle and you DON'T want that!! Please get pictures!!! OR a GOOD return policy!
