I know it probably appears that I only ever think of sex but I figure at only year 1 of my marriage improving my sex life is not a bad thing. Like many other people using the contraceptive pill for many years has had a very detrimental effect on my libido. I hate it and so does my DH. I am sure I have read somewhere that there is an equivalent of viagra in a herbal form, but can''t remember anything about it. Has anyone used a similar product that they would be willing to recommend?

Many thanks

You can get Horny Goat Weed in Australia, but I am not sure if it actually works. Can you find an alternative form of contraception? I stopped the pill years ago and my libido came back in a big hurry, and DH and I have not looked back once!! Best thing I ever did. We use condoms religiously and we have never had one problem or scare in nearly 5 years. They are very effective if you use them correctly (there is no such thing as a accidental pregnancy, people are just not careful enough!).

Thanks Honey, I haven''t actually been on the pill for about eight years now, but it has not helped at all I am afraid. I have heard of the goat weed thing, and would be interested to know if it actually works

Oh, sorry I just assumed. You could always give it a try, it couldn''t hurt I guess. I am sure it''s not cheap, but probably worth it if it does!

Good luck!

This may sound off but I was reading Sugar Shock and it was saying that taking sugar out of the diet helps with this. I can''t remember the exact terminology but google it.

Sorry to be direct, but are you using chemical contraceptive at the moment? I ask because once I got off the pill my libido improved, but it was not until I stopped all except barrier methods that things really hotted up.

I would say I was 1/10 (if that) of my regular sex drive while on the pill and then an implant

.

Can you drop all forms excepts say condoms? Or have you already done this?

I agree with the others who are asking about hormonal birth control - it really did a number on my libido and I hear similar things from friends all the time

if you are still on the pill, or a hormonal method, could you switch to condoms or a (hormone-free) IUD?

The pill got rid of my libido also.

I had an IUD and wouldn''t recommend one without thorough research. The Paraguard isn''t for everyone and causes terrible periods. Mine went from normal to so heavy that I couldn''t leave the house for one day out of the month. Literally. Could NOT leave the house. (I also tried the hormonal one and it gave me pounding headaches!)

a girlfriend of mine once admitted that she started reading cheesy ''hot and heavy'' romance novels b/c she could never get in the mood and it greatly improved her libido. If you''ve ever felt extra sexy after watching a movie or something then that is a good sign it could work. From what i remember from psych classes, libido is highly psychological for women.

I ''d be too shy to go out and buy them i think, but i bet you can order a ton of good stuff online.
