Defies words.

Completely unacceptable! What on earth could she have been thinking?!?

I despise Trump ........ but killing is bad.

Since the 2016 presidential election, liberal educators across the fruited plain have gone slap crazy. I wrote about these phenomena in my new book, “The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again.”

Some teachers have even turned their classrooms into breeding grounds for anti-Trump propaganda – going so far as to portray the commander-in-chief as a modern-day Adolf Hitler.

And I lost count of the number of educators who refused to broadcast the inauguration ceremony over fears that some fragile snowflake might take offense.

But what happened in Dallas is yet another example of how our public schools have been turned into social engineering petri dishes festering with rancorous rhetoric and hate.

And all you lib accuse just the conservatives of preaching hate.

Wow. Well it doesn't defy words from me. Those words would include stupid and fired. As in she should be fired. She has no business teaching children. IMO.

You know, this is repugnant. She is an idiot, possibly unstable person, who should be fired.

However. We have a president who is drowning in conflicts of interest. Who has appointed his unqualified family members, along with a white supremacist to his team. Who is carrying on adolescent twitter wars with anyone who crosses his path. We have a brand new administration that seems to veer madly between blatant lying--oh, sorry, alternative facts; chaos, confusion and systematically slashing and burning their way through government with no apparent understanding of what they are doing or how they are going to replace/repair once they finish their bulls in a china shop routine.

And people are spending time and energy on being outraged at one idiotic woman who deserves to be fired, ignored, and possibly pitied? I despair.

She is a teacher. It happened in her classroom. We should ignore this woman who deals with our children.

And did you read the link. Apparently she is not alone.

Now I feel despair.

I agree with Missy. This SHOULD be a teachable moment ... for all teachers of children. It's one thing to educate kids about government, history, even (neutrally) about the political spectrum, and how (not 'what') to think. It's an etirely different thing to interject the teacher's politics in the classroom, especially in a way that even jokingly implies that assassination is acceptable. :nono:

Totally agree with both of you. Entirely unacceptable.

BUUUT, this quote from Fox (re-quoted by Ruby) is just silly. How many "educators" don't want to teach evolution or sex Ed??! And somehow 1 terrible teacher means that all "liberal educators" have gone crazy?! Give me a break.

Remember the little boy who chewed his pop tart into the shape of a gun and got into so much trouble?
It would be disturbing if this teacher faces no consequences. She probably shouldn't be in the classroom, but it's very sad to see someone lose her career over something so ridiculous. What could she have been thinking?

She should be fired. But she is one woman in one school.

In the meantime, the man who is president has hired a white supremacist. He has insulted the parents of a fallen soldier. He has insulted women numerous times in numerous ways. He has suggested that people watch a **** film to support his insulting of one. He vilified the judge in a class action suit against him as being a hater. He has mocked Mexicans, Muslims and disabled people. He made fun of John McCain.

He is spraying a legacy of hate in every direction. He is our president. She has an extremely limited amount of power and influence. Her actions are despicable, but she's a nothing in the big picture. He has the opportunity to leave a legacy showing how to mend fences or of destruction. So far, at ever turn, he has chosen destruction.

But Fox News knows that the man they helped create is a ticking time bomb, so they are going to eke every last minute of outrage mileage over this. Eh.

Edited to add: the man who wrote that piece- possibly not the most unbiased source

Exactly. All this, yet somehow this teacher (who, granted, made a TERRIBLE choice in what she did) is what Fox is reporting as the most pressing issue.

Yeah, well we all know how credible and reasonable FOX is. My expectations of them aren't too high so this doesn't surprise me. :knockout:

What she did was wrong. I hope there is follow up on the story regarding disciplinary action. I'm not excusing this behavior but I recognize that teaching is stressful, life is stressful, and people go off the deep end in unique ways.

Teacher was put on administrative leave.

Talk about a slap on the wrist.

A lot of times "administrative leave" means "letting the school decide what to do". So it might mean that termination is coming, or not. Just hard to tell.

Administrative leave is probably a legality while they investigate what happened. Seems like part of due process.

Ruby- what happened to your WaPo link? I can't find it now? My recollection of that was that it was two 16 year old boys (November or early December) doing the kind of thing that 16 year olds have done since the beginning of time and they were disciplined. I don't think it's exactly a wave of insurrection. Just a couple of people making regrettable decisions. But Fox probably disagrees.

I agree with this. I'm sure they are trying to decide the appropriate way to handle the situation. My guess is the teacher will be fired.

Inappropriate and bizarre. Basic respect for life seems to be more important than anything else that could be taught at school.

I don't think this whack job is representative of all liberal teachers across the fruited plain lol. There are extremists and weirdos among every demographic (cough...cough...new president...cough). She's an idiot who, most certainly, should be fired (cough...cough...like the new president...cough). But then again, faux news, so of course this one loon will be trotted out to instill fear in the hearts of all conservatives.

Ummm, while I don't think teachers should be teaching shooting people is O.K, did anyone not notice she is an "Art" teacher. I've seen art teachers teach some pretty out there polarising and touchy subjects all in the name of "art" and for that matter art students portraying some pretty graphic subjects.... and NO I do not condone doing what she did but I am just pointing out perhaps it was in the name of "art." For example if that was a painting of Trump with a gun aimed at it then it would be considered art, if they were making some mixed media thing with an image of him with as you can see in the photo above a gun aimed at him represented in still photos or films, also probably considered "art." I do agree it's still a pretty unacceptable thing to be teaching high school students....
