Deb, the saddest thing is that for every one of those incidents Trump supporters justify these reports with more of their own as you can see above. They want him in power and until he does something that forces everyone to admit he has acted in a way that is a direct violation of your constitution, until then, he is here to stay. I do however believe that he might just end up being impeached and removed by his own party members, I guess I can live in hope....

I agree and disagree, I fully agree every society has jerks and no doubt we elect many of them as our politicians. I reject, however, that a mentally unstable narcissist is going to to be a viable/stable leader of the free world. I keep repeating some of the key issues most of his supporters seem to be missing - while closing down trade borders might create more jobs in the US in the short term, the price of all of your every day items is going to go up, inflation will go up, there will be a downturn in the global economy, the result? Another global financial crisis. And don't even get me started on Trump's stance against China in the mounting tension in South China Sea, if he starts a war here, that's my part of the world, so sadly your bad choice of a President impacts all of us;

Nasty human beings have walked this planet long before Trump did. If we are going to make excuses for people's poor behavior, then anything is fair game.
I saw a video of a woman who boarded an airplane and acted like a complete jerk to the man who was seated next to her. She assumed he was a Trump supporter and she said mean things to him. Subsequently, she was kicked off the flight for being a jerk. There is no excuse for poor behavior. If you act like a jerk, it's because you choose to be a jerk and not because Trump made you one.

This is 100% true, but I don't think electing one to your highest office helps to combat that, I personally choose to look up to and respect politicians, sporting figures and celebrities who are "good to outstanding examples" of what we as a society should aspire to be, not those who endorse, encourage and more to the point of this post inspire people to be the very worst they can be.....

I don't think there has been a president in your history that will be as divisive as he is. Sure people are responsible for themselves but electing him seems to have legitimised more people to be A-holes to each other.

There is a lot of injustice in America, feelings are very high on FEAR of Trump and adoration of Trump..

No one should be beat up or attacked, but people need to stop the violent rhetoric. We have freedom of speech but with that comes fear. Saying things like: more blacks kill blacks, this incites anger in the black community. We need a president we can trust to speak the truth. If people think blacks should 'get over it' then people in the south should 'get over' the civil war and their flags and their heritage of being black owners, because that is how blacks see it.

I suppose it's the end of America. We now have Bannon saying the press should 'shut up' it's a crying shame.

I don't think his policies have been well thought out long term, that is what I have major issues with, if he starts a war or he creates another global financial crisis, I hope that you will agree that electing him actually did hurt more than you are currently willing to potentially see. I have an outsiders point of view living outside the US and even the conservatives here don't like the amount of negative energy he generates. But I guess he's ticking off short term solutions that most people who have no grasp of long term economic and political consequences will even realise until it causes some massive catastrophe.

Give it another month or so and see if China is ready to go to war with you, I guess at least you could have him censoring what is stated in the media by then controlling what you hear about that, controlling your borders, taking a nationalistic stance that appeals to so many white middle and working class Americans, so you can blissfully keep waving the "he's not so bad" flag..... he's not so bad until something bad happens.... and then well I guess everyone blames someone else as you so clearly point out.
Choose someone who makes well thought out good long term choices, he isn't that person.

I'm sorry you feel that way. All political leaders should in theory be responsible for setting a high standard of how we should treat each other period. Most of your politicians including all of your presidents create policies/legislation on how we treat each other. They also lead by example on issues like how we treat women, how we treat the LGBT community, how we treat refugees, and how we treat our neighbours in other countries and issues around basic human rights. So when the person at the very top has no moral compass and doesn't treat many of these people with fairness or equality or respect, you might see it as "not getting caught up in fear mongering" and I might see it as not speaking out against someone who seems to endorse, and create these divisions....

Yes you are stuck with him, your version is be happy with that, my version is don't wait until someone extreme happens before enough of you insist that you find a better option.

I understand that the President's "tone" is important. Because he is the President, I hope and pray that he will do better in the future.
Many were disappointed that President Obama spoke out so quickly whenever a black man was shot by a police officer, but was slow to speak or silent when a police officer was shot. But that doesn't mean that President Obama wanted police officers killed. Of course he didn't.

Hate crime or violence - someone was hurt badly. Does it really matter why?

So if a black man and white man clash and call each other names during it - it is a hate crime.

One is a hate crime. The other is just an act of political recrimination. Both parties do it. The attacks against Jews in Nazi Germany were not just attacks by the National Socialist Party members against Communist Party members or vice versa. You are a Jew. You know this.

There is a difference between a reprehensible crime and a hate crime. In my opinion, it is actually more reprehensible for a father to beat his toddler to death because he won't be quiet, a fairly common occurrence in the United States, than for a teenager to spray paint a swastika on a Jewish temple (your mileage may vary). Nonetheless, the former is not a hate crime and the latter is.
