My dilemma, one is an Excellent cut (F and slightly smaller) and one is a Very good cut (H but slightly bigger). Both have great HCA scores. Both are eye clean SI1''s. Will be set in platinum. What do you think?

First:
Carat : 0.7
Clarity : SI1
Color : F
Measurements : 5.7 - 5.75 x 3.53
Depth : 61.7
Table : 56%
Girdle : thin to slightly thick
Culet : None
Polish : Very good
Symmetry : Excellent
Crown Angle : 34
Crown Height : 15%
Pavil. Angle : 40.8
Pavil. Depth : 43%
HCA: 1.0

Second:
Carat : 0.78
Clarity : SI1
Color : H
Measurements : 5.88 x 5.92 x 3.63
Depth : 61.5
Table : 56%
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry : Excellent
Fluorescence : Medium blue
Crown Angle : 34.5
Crown Height : 15%
Pavil. Angle : 40.4
Pavil. Depth : 42.5%
HCA: .7

Both look great to me, and very well cut. So it comes down to the size vs. color dilemma. An H (especially with fluor) doesn''t look much different from an F to me in this size and cut quality, so I''d choose the larger H/SI1.

Based on the info and the IS, I would pick the larger stone. I have a 0.85 carat H-SI and it is completely white. You will appreciate the larger size!

Either are great, it depends on whether you prefer the slightly higher colour and of course if these diamonds have been verified eyeclean to your standards, not much in it for size between them. Two nice selections!

interesting. The first one is one of those branded super ideal cuts and the other is just one that I picked from a database for comparison. I have the GIA reports for them too, anything else I should look for? The larger stone is also 20% less expensive....but I don''t want cost to be a determining factor, just visual performance. Thanks.

Have you verified that these diamonds are eyeclean with the vendor/s? A non branded diamond can still be an excellent performer and show a strong arrow pattern.

well, kinda. at a 1x level yes, here is the 10x images. 1 next to 2

I would ask them to talk you through each diamond and verify that the diamond/s are eyeclean to your standards, it is hard to tell from pics with any accuracy, so this would be the best approach.

I vote for the H!! They are both gorgeous, but the H is bigger, less expensive, and most importantly, has fluorescence. That will help it look whiter, even though an H is pretty darn white already!

Thanks for the comments! I wish I didnt have to make these kinds of decisions! something in me want to give an "excellent" cut diamond, but the imagescope''s look to be very similar! Maybe they can do one of those brilliant scope tests..... I read somewhere on here that its the 40.4 pavilion angles that turn GIA away from excellent...think thats true?

P.s. The vendor is extremely helpful and honest. I''ll post who it is once I decide on the stones so that there is no bias. But in regards to if its eye clean, they respond:

"The .78 is super eye clean, faces up white, and is very suitable for setting into a Platinum ring.

The light performance on this .78 is excellent and as I mentioned in our telephone chats, if the "Very Good" Cut grade was a detrimental factor (which it is not) it would be apparent on the Idealscope."

ok, so in the end I went with the SuperbCert from exceldiamonds.com because it outperformed the other one on the Brilliant Scope and was slightly more eyeclean and very white. Light performance was my main objective, so I went true with that. I ordered it with the tiffany channel set in platinum and asked them to keep the width of the band at less than 3mm since the center stone isn''t huge... I hope it turns out nice!
