I''m struggling with making up my mind on this new project. I currently wear a 2.11 tcw RB three stone as my wedding ring. I''m wanting to upgrade, but I can''t seem to stick with one option. I''m upgrading through James Allen.

My current center is 1.03ct AGS0 ideal J VSI. Lovely stone. I''ve been wanting to upgrade to 2 ct J VS2-SI1 ideal/ex symmetry and polish. I prefer AGS over GIA as the ex GIA stones I''ve been seeing do not score well on the HCA.

Option 1: Upgrade to 2ct. Keep three stone setting. Possibly get a simple diamond band. Least expensive option.

Option 2: Upgrade to 2ct, but ditch three stone setting for solitaire. Turn side stones into earrings. Get one, possibly two simple diamond bands.

Option 3: Upgrade to 1.75ct. Keep three stone setting and have a 1.75ct 5 stone BGD wedding band made. This options yields the most bling with the side stones and stones on the band -- 4.75tcw. The prongs/basket would be done in white gold and shank in 18k rose gold.

Option 4: Same as above with the 1.75ct RB and BGD 5 stone, but instead have the RB set in a classic solitaire setting and turn the side stones into earrings.

4 and 5 seem obvious. I LOVE the idea of having a BGD ring. Both options sound stunning, but I''m caught up on the upgrade not being 2ct. I don''t really want a stepping stone. There''s a 3k difference between the 1.75ct and 2ct with the specs I''m looking for. Dropping .25ct allows me to get the BGD ring.

Is there a big visual difference between 1.75ct and 2ct? I did consider a 2ct cushion as it would allow me to get the 5 stone, but figured it would be much simpler to stick with RB. Not as many variables and I know an ideal cut RB in J color will face up white. I don''t want to take a chance with a cushion.

I like the simple solitaire with diamond band look, but the BGD ring sounds to enticing and I just drool over that much bling on my finger. Ack! This is hard. My husband is no help. He''d just tell me to go with the cheapest option.

HCA score does not matter when you have IS image, so no need to go rejecting GIA graded stone.
