I'm going to ask my amazing
girlfriend to marry me, so I've been looking all over for the best deals. Here is my predicament:
I was engaged a few years ago to a different woman. I purchased a platinum and diamond (Marquis cut) engagement ring from Robbins Brothers. I now know I shouldn't have purchased from them but hindsight is 20/20. They have a program where they buy back your diamond for its full worth if you purchase another one worth at least twice as much.
I paid about $1700 for the diamond itself.
Should I trade in my diamond and put it towards a better one at RB? Or try and sell it? I think it had an agls cert, but I no longer have it. I would only buy a diamond from them if it came with an AGS cert and I will definitely buy the setting somewhere else.
I'm very new to the world of Jewelery so any guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I only have about $6200 total for the new ring if I don't trade or sell the old one.
Thank you for your time.
