I am looking at 2 diamonds and can't decide.
The setting I am going for is a classic 4 prong with a V shank and pave band.
I want the diamond to pop out when you look at it from the sides. as well as from the top.
Not physically pop out, but to look elegant and substantial.
My concern is that the first diamond is below 7.4 so will it look small for a 1.50
and the second one has a smaller crown ht, so will it not have a nice height?
I have tried on rings at Birks and Tiffanys and that is how I decided on a 1.50.
The first diamond is from an online vendor and the second is from a local jeweler.

It is hard for me to visualize how each one will look in the finished setting, which will look better.
I know I sound fussy, but this is a once in a lifetime purchase and I don't want to make a mistake.
I really appreciate some advice.

The first diamond is a 1.50, G, excellent cut, VS2, GIA certified, size: 7.33 X 7.36 X4.53
table: 58
depth: 61.6
crown angle: 34
pavilion angle: 41
crown ht: 14.5%
girdle: med to sl thick, faceted 4%
no fluor, culet none, star length: 55%, lower half 75%
HCA:1.6
Price: $15,493

The second diamond is a 1.51, G, VS2, excellent cut, VS2, GIA certified, size: 7.45 X7.48 X4.45
table: 60
depth: 59.6
crown angle: 33
pavilion angle:41
crown ht: 13%
girdle: medium, faceted 3.5%
no fluor, culet none, star lenght: 55%, lower half 75%
HCA: 1.3
Price: $18,374

I'm not a diamond expert, but from what I've learnt on this board, I'd choose the first one for it seems to have a better cut (it has the "right" numbers).
I 'd skip the second diamond because:
the table is bigger than the "ideal" table parameters;
the depth is smaller than the "ideal" depth parameters .

how did you like the diamond at the local jeweler?

Thanks Purplesilk and Sig47 for your replies.

I also like the dimensions of the first diamond.

Hard to tell with the second diamond, as I have to visualize it in the setting. When I asked to see it in a setting, the diamond
was too big for the settings they had so it was difficult to visualize exactly how it would look.
