I have been looking for a ~3.00 ct, H, VS2-SI1 diamond for some time now, and I would want to know what you guys though about it, including the asking price for it. Please keep in mind that the ring this stone will ultimately go in looks best with rectangular stone... hence the 1.22 L/W ratio.

Thoughts on how much I should get this stone for? Is it even a good stone to get? Thanks everyone!

Hi Mars

Have you seen it in person? Radiants are tricky so best if you can see in person or have images if the diamond is online. If you could get the crown height too that would be very useful, ask the seller if they can run a Sarin scan to get this info.

Crown is 49.8%, Pav is 57%, Girdle is between 3.4 to 5.3%.

Let me know please. I really appreciate your help.

My personal opinion is that I don''t like depths above 70%. Too much weight is not seen. Take for example this Blue Nile stone that is more than 0.25 carats smaller but is bigger than the diamond for which you gave the specs.

I''m not saying the Blue Nile stone is necessarily well-cut, but it''s definitely bigger. Also, the crown height you gave seems large. Crown height is usually 10-20%. I would keep looking for another stone than the one you posted if I were you.

Do you have the actual crown height please? This is different to the crown angle.

All i really have is the information that I have already provided both of you, which is found on the AGS Cert. I have attached a copy of it. I have tried getting a Sarin scan, but apparently the only one which was performed on the stone was that done by the AGS Labs when used to certify the stone. Thus, I don''t have any more information about it other than what''s found in the Cert.

I have 30 days to return it if I do not like it. Suggestions? Should I purchase it and go to a jeweler and run my own tests on it? Please let me know.

I appreciate everyone''s help. It really is nice to have someone that knows more than you do on your side sometimes. Thanks.

Forgot to mention... I really don''t mind losing a little of the weight due to the depth %. I completely understand that it could be a little bottom heavy. My main concern is getting a good looking stone for a reasonable price.

Once again, if the stone does not have "ideal" proportions, what would the experts on this forum pay for such a stone?

Put it this way, if I were looking for a large radiant then I would be interested in this one, really there are no ideal proportions, radiants are tricky and cannot be evaluated entirely by numbers, your own eyes are what matter. Is this diamond from Blue Nile? Also depth percentages in fancy shapes do not always relate to face up size as with rounds, fancies can hold weight in other areas.

This is a sizeable purchase, as you have a good return policy you could take it to an independant appraiser who is also skilled at evaluating cut, they could give you an impartial opinion on your purchase.

It was not on Blue Nile. I found it on Adiamor. I went ahead and purchased it, and will have an independent appraiser look at it. Can anyone recommend a good appraiser in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area?

One last thing, no one chimed in with what this stone would be priced around based on cert only. I understand that it''s not an accurate pricing, and other things will obviously affect its price, but I was just curious if it was priced in the ballpark for what I purchased it for.

Thanks for everyone''s help. I will post pictures once i receive it, along with ASET pics (once my professional kit arrives...).

I don''t know if Rich Sherwood is near enough?

He is under Fl appraisers here - https://www.pricescope.com/appraisers_FL.aspx

You never stated the price you paid for the stone, so none of us have any idea if that''s a good price or not. I know in my personal opinion I would not pay as much as the Blue Nile stone I linked for you, which was somewhere around $26,000 because the stone you purchased faces up smaller even though it is larger in carat weight.

It was $25k. To compare it with the link you posted, this one is bigger carat weight (although not as big dimentions wise - as I wanted a specific L/W ratio).

Additionally, this is a VS2, the one you posted was SI1.

I already received the stone, and it looks very good. I would even have to say that AGSL might have graded this one an H, although it can go for a G. I really cannot see anything wrong with it (although I do not have an ASET scope to look at it at this point).

I will make an appointment with the appraiser to make sure there are no other problems with it. Overall, I think it was a reasonable price for what it is.
