Rodman,
We NEED real magnified pictures of the stones. There is more than just depth and table that makes the stone sparkle (or not). And ASET pictures would be doubly helpful as well.

Chrono can I get pictures of the diamond on BN?

I''ll go check.

Thanks
Rod

Sorry for the craziness .... I''m just really anxious to place this order.

You are not likely to get pictures from BN.

These are virtual stones in their database.

Yeah I just checked too .... "sample images"

Chrono ... I know you say that we''ve got to see them ... but I can only afford to get one of these from BN!

So looking at those 3 which one do you like ... or which one would you eliminate?

Do you have the links to the diamonds so we can look at the certs? With the 2 SI2 stones you need to find out if they are eye clean; I wonder if they are in house?

Rodman-

1) What is your budget?

2) Take any stone that you want more info about and get the cert number. Go to either GIA or AGSL's website, plug in the cert number and you get the stones specs.

3) Go to the HCA here at Pricescop and it will tell you wha the TIC score is, as well as how it ranks the stone.

4) Go to GemAppraisers website and use his DIY Cut grade calculator. It will tell you if its a 1A, 1B, 2A, etc.

This should help you tremendously!

ETA: Any stone that passes the above, call Blue Nile and ask for a color and/or clarity visual. They will pull the stone within 24 hours, look at it, and report back to you what their gemologist finds.

Oh wait- is this for a round or for another shape?

It''s actually for a heart shaped diamond.

I will follow the steps you recommended .....

thanks for the info

I''m sorry ... I''m a n000b ... what''s the HCA? =)

Also what''s the website for the GemAppraisers?

Thanks
Rod

Rod, it is impossible to choose any fancy shape diamond without a picture of the actual stone. You can pick a round fairly accurately by certain dimensions, but you really can''t do that with any other shape. So unless you can get pictures, I''m afraid no one would be able to tell you which of these to choose. I haven''t looked back to the other thread, but what is this stone for?

Rod, ds is right. Honestly, the best advice I could give you, is to go with an internet vendor who can search for what you want, and actually look at it and tell you about it. You just won''t get that with BN.

IMO, this is an important purchase, and it would be prudent to go with someone who can help you get it right.

Rodman, the best thing you can do in this position is to bring the stones to an independent appraiser and have him evaluate them and help you identify which one is the better cut/best value.
