Hi DS...yes, the 5.5mm are mine. I'll have my jeweler check them out when I get them on Friday to make sure that they are what they were sold to me as (though even if they're not, I'll probably negotiate on the price and keep them!)....

Those mc2 are gorgeous, however, I tried on these from Ari and I just didn't like the way they looked. Somehow, the wire part was too long and they got lost in my hair, which is why I like option #2 and #3. While they dangle, they are still close to my ear, and substantial enough that they don't get missed in my hair (I think?? Arrgghhh....)

I like 1 because the attention is under your ears and their wonky piercings. You're looking at the dangly bit, not the earlobes.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of 2 at all. The entire thing always looks slightly awkward to me.
 
I personally like the articulation and movement of option #2 and think they would show nicely with longer hair.
 
Okay, then I voted for #2. But I very honestly would be afraid to go custom on a style I had never tried on. That would be the dilemma.
 
That is exactly wh I'm struggling with this decision DS. It is so hard!
 
I am probably not going to help things here because I am going by pure aesthetic rather than practicality (but really isn't that why we wear them?)
I love #1. I now will be checking my earlobes when I get home. I never would have noticed and never have noticed anyone's uneven pierced lobes! I am a massage therapist too, so lack of symmetry drives me nuts! I do know that your decision has to be mind clean (like mine with diamond color, etc). I think these (or any that hang down a little) draw the eye away from the ear hole line. I also think they accentuate the neckline as well. Just beautiful. You could pierce your nose with one and I would still be gawking between them and your beautiful ring too much to notice unevenness in your earlobes :wink2:

I voted #3, but I really like the design Yssie suggested with the simple drops. I think they would go with everything and you would be least likely to want to change them in the future. And they are just different enough to stand out.
 
I absolutely love the uniqueness of #2 . They really caught my eye the first time you posted them. I think that they are perfect for everyday wear as well as special occasion and I havent seen any similar.Good luck with whatever you choose. They are all pretty!
 
I voted for 2 and would rule out 1 and 3.

I have a 1/2 ct stone, my original e-ring. Over time, that 1/2 ct got REALLY small. And I worked up some resentment for that stupid tiny stone. So I upgraded, but kept the stone, and it does have sentimental value. I set it in a pendant, where it became insanely tiny. A torso is so much bigger than a finger, lol. So I got a halo pendant from BGD and went from 5mm to 14mm. It's got real presence. But it's also a bit . . . much for a universal, wear-with-anything necklace. Too much bling, too much wow. Boring is good for a fundamental piece - you notice the sparkle and shimmer of the diamonds, but not the setting so much. I know I'll get another more basic diamond pendant, and am happy that I found a home for the 1/2 ct, but would not do the halo for my only diamond pendant ever.

I think 1 and 3 have too much going on, they're too much of a specific look. I don't think they are 24/7 material because they have so much detail and bling factor. I think 2 is more neutral and classic, while still addressing your piercing concerns.
 
You know, I was thinking about all of the options. I know you didn't (I had to google the terms, so I am no expert) like the way the pair from SS got caught in your hair, but you may want to stick with a type of french wire earring. Was the problem with the 6mm studs that one would kinda hang down? Like the earring was too heavy? If so, you may run into this with any earring that has posts. If you choose #2, can JbEG do something in a different backing that would have wire hooks instead of the post? Then would that drive you nuts as it would get caught too?
If these vendors have return policies, you may just have to go for it and try them out! I wish I had better advice. (Including the nose ring part...)
 
i would vote french wire dangly or like the singlestones you posted. i don't like the baguette shape of #2 but i like the idea of a light swing. otherwise i'd just go basic jackets.
 
Okay so... I don't know if it's been said, but the EXECUTION of #4 is kinda phallic to me. I think if the space between the large stones and smaller ones was decreased it would be prettier, less phallic and then also get my vote. But as it stands now #2 hands down.
 
I agree Gypsy. I also think that milgrain would add a vintage feel.

I voted 3, and also think 1 would work for your lobe issues. I have similar issues caused by uneven piercing, which means small studs look uneven. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that my earlobes are thick and curve up slightly, so certain dangly earrings do not dangle properly (e.g. ones with a flexible line from the piercing to the main body of the earring). Dangles with french hooks, or any nonflexible hooks (which I believe 3 and 1 have), however, look great.

In addition to small dangly earrings, I also like small hoops. Have you considered diamond huggies?

I like 2 very much, but I think you would have to try them on to determine if they look good on your ears.
 
I've got many of the same issues in that my lobes and piercing holes aren't exactly symmetrical as I'd like. I prefer #2 or #3, and agree that trying on would be best before pulling the trigger on a custom. However, having 3 daughters has its "advantages" (? :? ) in that I spend too much time in Claire's or the Icing than I'd like, and can often find styles in costume similar to what I'd like in fine jewelry. It often helps me see what something would look like prior to making a bigger purchase. Maybe try to look for something like that in a costume piece to gauge what you'd think of them if you go that route :twirl:
 
The oec's arrived and they are gorgeous. I didn't think that they'd be G color (as stated) and compared to a GIA master set, they are I/J, which I'm fine with. Interestingly, they don't have a super high crown (which is one of the things I love about oec's), but considering I paid a reasonable price and it won't be visible in earrings, I'm keeping them.

Here are a couple more photos. I CANNOT for the life of me, capture the facet pattern. Every time I try to get a close up shot, all I get is a brilliant ball of fire. :roll: (a good thing in real life, a frustrating thing when trying to share pics!)....

I have also made a design decision, but I'm going to make you wait til I have them for the big reveal (about 4 weeks away)! One hint...it is not exactly any of these designs, but similar to one of them. ;)

Thanks Yssie and DS! Yes, I am being a tease, but I don't have a scanner, so I can't show you the drawing that we did. Here's the photo that the vendor took that shows the faceting more clearly. I can see it clear as day under the loupe, but my phone just won't capture it and our camera is broken. :blackeye:

OOOOOhhh Yenny they look so good! Are they eye clean? What is the millimeter spread?

If they are I/J then I would contact the seller and ask for a partial refund perhaps?
 
Dreamer, they are eye clean. Under the loupe one has a small white inclusion near a prong. They measure 5.6mm according to my jeweler. He used his master set to determine that they are an I/J color. I did negotiate a sizable discount based on the jewelers findings. I'm waiting to receive the refund, and will use it to pay for a good portion of the setting. :naughty:

Can't wait to see them set. Good score, these look both much nicer than the one you tried in vain to match, and now you have a nice gift for your mom!
 
Dreamer, what did your jeweler say about your stones??? You haven't updated your post. I got $700 off the price you saw, assuming you saw the right one. It was originally an auction and then she changed the listing to a BIN or best offer and she accepted my price. I think I did pretty well.

You know, that seller has a lot of OECs in pairs on offer. I wish they had better photos. Their prices are prettyu good but it seems to me like some pairs are better than others. But they all have the same "specs", so obviously they just have a stock listing or something?? Anyways, you did great, I can't wait to see what you do with them.

I just wanted to add a little suggestion if your going with one of the drop designs.
You can have the posts soldered on in different places on each earring to custom fit your ears, I do this often on earrings I'm making.

What I do is get some thin clear plastic and cut out a piece about the size of a playing card.
I then place that over the ear and trace the shape of the ear with a Sharpie, then I draw a small little dot to mark the placement of the piercing. You will need to do one for each ear and mark them left and right.
The jeweler in the workshop can then place the earring on each card so they have the same drop from the bottom of your lobe, then I drill through from the back to mark the correct place to solder on the post.
I normally hold the earring on the card with some clear double sided tape while I'm marking the post placement. Then I just solder the post on the mark.
Finally I engrave a tiny L and R on the back of each earring so they find the correct home each time.

Hope this might help, it will not work on studs but I have found it very successful with drop earrings.
